Anyone stateside actually carry their UKPK or Urban?

Just curious. I had picked up a Ti UKPK a while back then sold it. I thought it was a sweet sweet knife, but I never carried it. Now I'm finding myself wanting one again. I know our brothers and sisters across the pond use them regularly, but I was just curious to see if anyone over here carries a nonlocking Spydie regularly and if they miss a lock at all.

I have carried mine - Orange UKPK. I really like the design (Caly 3- like) and colors, but prefer to carry something with a lock. I have forgotten that it was not locking since 95% of my Spydies lock and I have had the blade close on me. Of course, the finger in the choil design worked, but I just dont want to have to worry about it. Generally, I dont carry slipit Spydies anymore since Im so used to locking blades. This is not a slam on the UKPK's, but more of a comment on the lack of agility of my brain to remember what Im carrying...

I carried the wharncliff urban for a few months. It was excellent. Never missed the lock.

I right back pocket carry slipjoints often. They are usually easier for me to operate than locking knives.

I'm carrying my Pingo today. While not easier to operate (or easy at all most of the time), I went with a more sleek option today.

I got the FFG FRN UKPK a couple of weeks ago and have been carrying that quite a bit. The G-10 UKPK Drop point used to be the knife I carried while exercising.

I prefer the Urban leaf for a small knife :) The sweet combination of ergos, tight spring, frn handles, quality build and good materials make the Urban a very sweet and useful knife.

I'd advise folks to lose their trepidation over slipjoints. A slipjoint made as well as the leaf Urban puts all of those fears to rest :) I like the Urban's grip better than that of the D'Fly

The Urban is a terrific well rounded general purpose user that brings appreciation everytime I use it. Compare that to the best slipjoints of old :eek:

I carry a blue FRN UKPK off and on and I've had no problem with not having a lock. The ergos and design of it are one (if not top) of my favorites.

I carry a squeak at work. Works well. Small. Discreet. I think it's perfect for the small tasks I need it for throughout the day. But when I'm not at work I wouldn't carry a slipit unless I had to.

I'm going to get one of the drop point ones soon. I carry a Esee Izula in my front pocket. The pen would make a great addition to it.

I really enjoy Slip-Its and while I had it, I carried my Foliage Green G10 UKPK often and now carry my Squeak regularly.

Ken's photo of his Ti UK/Drop Point swap has me burning to do the same. :)

I carry a CF UKPK all the time. It's a great design in a light package.

Having grown up before the one-hand locking knives came into being, I consider the lack of a lock to be a non-issue. As long as you don't try to cut with the spine, you won't have any problems.

I have several slipits. I've carried them all on occasion, but not too often. I tend to prefer locking folders in the 3.5" range, but a UKPK or Urban works just fine too.

G10 UKPK Rescue is my favorite. There is no legal or safety or even preferencewise reason for me to use slipjoints. The UKPK handle just fits my hands perfectly and the jimping on that one is exactly as sharp as I like it.

I carry my Ti UKPK and orange Wharncliffe regularly. They are amazing little knives. I generally carry them deep in pocket with no clip. The Ti UKPK is one of the nicest production pocket knives I've ever carried.

I own Ti, CF, and Orange G10 UPPK. As of today I have no intention to carry any of them, unless I have to. I strongly prefer locking knives and own few Calys.

That's why I've begun regretting getting rid of it. Fantastic knife really.

I had my Pingo in my pocket all day yesterday and very frequently carry a UKPK variation. I especially like my G10 and Ti versions. Rarely have I needed or wanted a lock. Then again if ever I thought I really needed a locking knife, I probably used a more appropriate tool like a saw, axe, of clippers. Don't get me wrong, I still like an appreciate the locking knives, but rarely, if ever, have I needed the lock.

I got my black G10 UKPK last month and love it. When I'm at work I carry my locking spydies. When I'm out and about everywhere else I carry my slipit. I don't have to worry about anything when I carry it in my front pocket. It's so discrete and light I almost forget that I have one.
