2002 Forum Vesuvius - 2nds only - 39 pcs

#1

Post by sal »

While cleaning out the corners, we found the run of 2002 Forum Vesuvius' that were stuffed in a corner because they didn't meet standards.

After a spine wacking test, we have 39 Burgundy Vesuvius models with the original compression lock. They are engraved Spyderco forum 2002. They are 2nds for one reason or another and have no warrantees.

Rather than toss them, we decided to offer them to the Site Forum (which they were originally planned for).

They are available only through SFO. They are $40 each.

would these be marked as seconds with the 'notch' in the blade?
Thanks

We sold a few of the original run, but I wasn't happy with the quality. Then I decided to pull them for further inpsection. They've been sitting ever since. So we went through the ones that were left and pulled out lock defeats, etc. That left 39.

Hi Sal,

Any idea of how many "firsts" went out?

My Vesuvius arrived today! I have no idea why it's a second, but I'm very happy with it! Oh, and even though the box is marked "Burgandy Vesuvius", it's not. It's a silver bug inlay model! I love it, even tho it's just a plain edge!

Guys,
Mine came in this weekend. It's really nice. I did some research on the archives on this knife and they appeared to have been pulled originally due to issues with the compression lock. I dunno about the rest of them, but mine appears to be every bit as strong as my "black with silver bug" Vesuvius, except that it's better looking along with the Blade Forums marking. Get it while you can. This one's a super deal. Thanks SFO... I also appreciate the green Jester that came with the Forum Spyderhawk.

I got mine with the original Forum issue run at a much higher price. The only issue I've noticed is the liner has scuffed the blade on the front side in the area of the pivot. No matter. It's still a unique, valued part of the collection.

If I wasn't buying my wife an anniversary gift, I order one on the spot.

But, gotta conserve for right now....
