Manbug Box Question

Hi Manbug owners,

I ordered a manbug grey G-10 and received the knife without any box :confused:

Is this normal? Manbug shipped without box? Please let me know.

Every knife Spyderco sells come in either a box, a plastic "clam pack", or a Spyderco pouch. AFAIK, the only one of those used for the Manbug is the box. Where did you buy yours from and how exactly was it packaged?

I brought it in ebay from seller "YourKnifeConnection" with over 26400 points 100% positive, it was just wrapped in paper and sent in usps first class mail.

Ah. Second-hand as it was, I don't suppose no box is unusual.

ebay is NOT where to buy Spyderco. You probably got a really good price, and this is why. Buy from an Authorized Dealer.

I am actually dumbfounded as to why people buy on ebay for not much better prices. You could have bought it from Knifeworks.com for $68.

There are some great dealers who happen to have eBay shops. One of my favorites is poor_fish who just mainly does buy-it-now auctions. Great prices and fast shipping. One of the fabled $7 Endura Wave trainers buys was done through them.

Hmmm, I purchased a Benchmade 5 rescue cutter from yourknifeconnection earlier this month to keep in the car. The box didn't look tampered with or opened (ears on the box weren't bent), but the hook has the black coating and it is mighty scuffed up. :confused:

Weird that what you bought was listed as new in box and didn't receive a box.

I've purchased several spyderco knives from that eBay seller and I've never had a problem. If I was in your shoes I would give them a call or send them a message and ask them why you revcived your order with out the box. You also might want to read the description again and make sure the missing box was not mentioned in the description. Good luck and I'm sure they will take care of you.

Actually the prices of some Spyderco models are significantly cheaper on eBay. I've bought from some of those dealers and had good experiences.

If you intend to use the knife, a box isn't really necessary, but it should have had one.

True, for some dealers eBay is just another sales venue. Some fairly well known internet knife dealers have eBay shops and at least a couple brick and mortar dealers have them as well. Even among those dealers for whom eBay is their only venue, I've dealt with some very good ones. Like several others here, my experiences with YourKnifeConnection have been positive. However, I know that proves nothing, I've watched dealers, both on eBay and elsewhere on the internet, go from great, to mediocre, to thieves in a few short months.

But, regarding the "no box" issue, since the chances of Spyderco shipping a "naked" knife to a distributor are zero, the best way to resolve this would be for unowatt to contact the seller and complain, if has not already done so, and give them the opportunity to make things right.

I reached out to the seller, they claim that they have to scan the bar code on the red and black packaging before shipment to set their inventory straight and to print shipping/delivery note. This sounds legit to me. They were also asking about package damage, for which I can't answer as my 10 year old son opened the package while i was at work. Bummer!

Don't know for sure what happened in the middle :confused:

At this point I'm thinking, the mail got delivered else where (which happens more frequently in my neighborhood, I receive a lot of neighbor's mail) and somebody opened the package and forget to (or damaged the box) and didn't put it back in. Since it was a first class mail and no delivery / tracking option was included, there is no way i will know

Yep, I agree. I'm planning to use the knife anyway and no plans to sell it. So, I guess I'm okay. At least i have the knife, I'm happy to that extent.

I was curious to see if the sale was foul. After hearing back from the seller, the sale looks Legit.
