I would like to keep it politics-free myself as well. Spyderco is a big part of my daily fun and I don't need to think about things that bum me out.
Thanks for letting them know... I was about to. May delete this thread if it goes too much further :)

Politics aside -

I think if POTUS carries a knife at all, he probably carries a small swiss army knife with a fingernail file, etc. Something like this classic SD from Victorinox.

I was thinking along the same lines. Aside from the lack of need, since Reagan there has been a strong focus on visual imagery and I can't imagine any president having anything extra in his/her pockets to bulge those perfectly tailored suits. That Victorinox is small enough to carry and actually serves a function, even in the White House.

Ok, slightly off topic, but it is a Pet Peeve of mine. Why is President Obama referred to by his last name so much? Regardless of whether you voted for him or not, it is President Obama - not just "Obama". My CinC while active duty in the Army was President Clinton. I loathed him, but never referred to him as just "Clinton".

Just the way it is.

Bush was just Bush, or Bush 43 or W. Clinton WAS just Clinton or even "Bill". Maybe not to you, but generally.

I was very amused by all the people who called Bush "that moron" then got all offended that someone left off the "President" for Obama.

Technically, you're right of course. The office should be respected. It just isn't much in these days of extreme partisan politics.

Though I can't vote, I supported Pres. Obama this election. I find that annoying as well. I should've titled the thread differently.

Well said, too often partisan emotions trump logic.

I'm ambivalent about politics in general but it might best to abstain going forward.

No need for apologies. I'm just using emoticons in general to show how I feel about the entirety of the thread.
