-Just ordered the M390 Blue-PM2! Why?!

Post by aidansdaddy17 »

Enable or justify my decision. I'm waiting on another pre-order. Folks talk about this being an expensive paramilitary 2. Yet for what you get....and secondary sales. I think it's decent. I've been wanting one. Trying to justify buying one for a while. I had an S30V model. Loved it. Sent it back though because the compression lock was horribly sticky. The blade was ground terribly uneven. And fit and finish were off. Dealer agreed! I know that was few and far between though! I'm not mad. I did love it though. Must be knife fate? For the blue is my grail PM2. Thoughts? Opinions on the sprint run PM2's? Are they somewhat better made than the regular production runs? Thanks! Reviews and pics would help y'all! Merry Christmas and Happy New Knife Year!

Excellent choice. If you like the color, or at least don't hate it, you'll be happy for years. :spyder:

My favorite PM2 is the blue one. Not because of the color but because of the steel. M390 is awesome stuff. You will love it!

Not to be a stickler, this is not classified as a sprint, but a dealer exclusive. This particular dealer exclusive is the second run through as they sold out of the first ones and made additional ones to sell. Many were upset at Bento due to thinking that there would be a very limited amount made. This unfortunately has not been the case.

I paid a lil extra, but I absolutely love mine. Make sure you use it. I'm in the camp that the more you pay for it the more you should use it. I refuse to let a ~$200 knife sit in a case neglected. Mine sees plenty of pocket time. Well it rotates with the GB. The GB seems like a $200 knife...

I haven't noticed much difference in overall quality between F&F of sprints and regular production. But, my blue PM2 (and my brown one), are especially smooth and solid. M390 is great steel too.

Not to be a stickler, but exclusives are always subject to re-order, and several have had additional runs. As long as you're not buying with a view to resale profits, this is not a problem.

I've had 5 P2s and all smooth. The orange was a bit smoother than "regulars" and the brown flat out incredible.

Understood, but others were upset. Not sure why

:) :D Probably because some of them wanted to flip the knives on the big auction site? If it's a knife, it's a knife. :) If it's an investment, especially a short-term "investment," then it's something else and there is not only potential upside but potential risk.

I have a pair of each of the S90V, 20CP, S35VN, M390 and S30V sprints/exclusives. All except the S90V are more or less the same, very smooth locks and pivots. Unfortunately I don't have any standard production models to compare.

I had 2 blues. One was supposed to be a backup and the other a user. I loved the one I used a lot! I really regret letting both of them go.

No, I was not trying to profit off of a limited run knife, or so it was thought at the time. I didn't see the sense in keeping two so I put my backup up for sale. The original buyer backed out so I ended up selling it to someone else. 2 weeks later the original buyer told me such a sad story about why I hadn't heard from him that I sold my user :( . I still kind of regret letting them both slip through my hands. Oh well, I have a green one on pre-order...LOL

Got my blue PM2 a couple of weeks ago and it has kicked everything else out of my pocket. The only thing I regret about my M390 para 2 order is that I didn't get two of them.
