A Hinderer XM-18 is the holy grail of all folding knives for me.

Sure, I'd like to see a Hinderer collaboration. I really like the Hinderer designed ZT knives, and a Spyderco version would be great too.

I would buy it without even seeing it first as the question asks.

I'd buy it either way but now that I think about it, Spyderer is kind of a stupid name lol, I'd like something simple like the Spyderco Hinderer, etc.

No thanks.

Reasons:

- usually designed not for high cutting performance (reason I buy Spyderco)
- small is to small, I would rather take a Spyderco Delica as it is more ergonomic
- hard to open if it is not a flipper with gloves

In all honesty, I respect Rick Hinderer, but, I don't think it is designed in the same philosophy that Spyderco designs their knives to.

I also gave the 0560 of ZT a try, though it is a fine knife, it is not for me.

Two sides to every coin, just wanted to share my side that seems to be against the grain this time.

I think a collaboration like this might be a model that actually doesn't garner too many price complaints, given the street price of Hinderer knives. Hinderers strike me as beautiful in a design sense but they seem kind of like sharpened prybars to me more suited to demolition than regular knife use - and I don't mean that as an insult that's just how their appearance makes me feel.. though they do look very well built.

I would want to see what comes out of this collab... if its an improvement of the XM18, I would buy it. I have an XM18 3.5 and I don't know why these knives cost that much... they are well made but not worth $600 - $700 IMHO.

Not me. I have zero interest in RIL framelock tactical folders, even if they were correctly handed, which is about as likely as me growing a full head of hair. Not to mention that it's extremely unlikely to happen, considering that he's already designing for another company.

What Zenith said.

My ZTs almost never see the light of day. Very occasionally I'll break out one of my SNGs but then I'll have something else with me that is designed to slice.

I would imagine that Spyderco more than covers the "hard use / tacticool" demand with the Tuff and all the other new 4mm thick blades.

Few month ago I bought ZT561 and I am very impressed. So if Spyderco would make Hinderer in Golden I will be very interested.

I would buy one, but I have a XM-18, 560, 561 and I would carry my Spyderco/Southard over any of them.
