Good point. But if it's that cold, I'll take a fixed blade. Puukos were designed to be used while wearing mittens, and that's what I wear if it's cold, I've never been a real fan of gloves.

Thats a great point as well. I have been thinking about picking up a Schempp
Rock for that very reason. I would already have one, but bills and all and a bad
time of the year. I have a couple non Spyder fixed blades that I have had for
years, but when I put on a large winter coat or coveralls, my belt (and fixed
blade) is covered up.

I thought that I might try putting a fake belt around the coveralls, just to hold
the Schempp Rock, but sometimes thigns get in the way as you are working
and moving about.

Hi Sal, I am a relative newbie here and a fairly recent convert in general to Sypderco knives, but now that I have converted I am HOOKED! :) And the first Spyderco I ever bought was a Resilience. I have never EDC'd it if you count EDCing as actually having it on my person, but it does ride in my day-pack (Maxpedition Lunada) and thus I never leave the house without it. It's great to have "just in case". That said, I have thought of replacing it with something more sturdy in terms of hard use and better steel, especially since falling in love with your Para Military2 with its S30V and outstanding compression lock!! In fact, I considered getting the Superleaf because it does have the compression lock (and VG-10) and because my initial impression of it was that it was a "very large folder". That is until I realized that it was actually a about the same size as a PM2, just heavier.

So long story short... yes, I do think there is an argument for a non-Value-Line "very large folder" in the Spyderco product line. And if I might offer a suggestion... how about a "Super Military" with a 5 inch cutting surface (5.5" inch blade probably) and a compression lock to back up its beef (AND a 4-way positionable clip!!!)? In fact, even a re-vamped "Military 2" in its current size config but that offers these things two upgrades (comp lock, 4-way clip) I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Just my two cents... you can keep the change! :D
Apparently, arachnophobia is not a condition from which I suffer.... :spyder:

My largest interest besides strength would be it not having a recurve blade. FFG is nice, I could live with others but I no longer buy recurves. The sharpening issues with flat stones make it not worth my time, as well as the fact that the blade will get more and more deformed as time goes by.

To be honest I'm sick to death of seeing tiny "knives" barely big enough to get a couple of your fingers around the handle and half the blade blunt and wasted as a "choil" (WTF is that anyway? NNTR). The only knife I use smaller than an endura is a paring knife and that stays in the kitchen. If I want to sharpen a pencil or open a cardboard package I'll use a pencil sharpener or a box cutter. The only Spydies I'm considering purchasing right now are all relatively big - para, navaja and szabo, so my message to Sal is MORE BIG KNIVES PLEASE!

The choil is there mostly for safety, I personally never use it on the paramilitary, I don't like to have my fingers that close to the blade, but most people like it.

Spyderco more big knives please and please more hollow grind fighting knives and Szabo collaborations. :)
