Just saw a utube video comparing southard with the techno and the zt561. Think it was done by "blade hq". Can't wait for this one.

From the videos it looks to have one of the best handle to blade ratios I have seen.

Well, that's not TOO bad, the waiting is always a killer though, I was hoping to hear how the edge thickness was and if you took it to any stones yet, but, that'll have to wait.

I hope that mine will arrive before Christmas though, I'm still in Pre-order status, that's a tuff wait too !

Again thanks for the photos and video

That probably means it will be comfortable in your hand.

I'm looking at the two side by side and, without taking a micrometer to them, they look to be the same thickness to me. But for what it's worth (in my hand at least) the GB seems thicker.
(sorry, I suck at taking pictures and posting them)

I was able to do one more measurement before it got boxed up and came up with .515 inches for a handle thickness. My calipers might be off though. It is definitely thick but it isn't uncomfortable.

My sample measure right at .02" behind the edge. Thinner than most stock spydies.

Oh boy. My Southard arrived today, and it's quite spectacular! I'm beyond pleased with it. It has that same refined, precise, almost custom-like quality that the Techno has. The stonewashed finish is beautiful, the G-10 scale is perfectly matched to the titanium below. The nested G-10 over-travel stop is also a very nice touch. The blade flies out, silky smooth and lightning fast, and the knife balances perfectly in the hand. And the handle just melts into the hand. On paper, it seems like a thick handle, but in hand, it's one of the most comfortable handles I've held in a while. I also really like this blade shape (I usually prefer a more slender blade), and it came razor sharp and perfectly ground.

I have to say, I was a little concerned about the pocket clip shape and angle, and that it is only tip-up. Usually, I find I need to carry flippers tip-down or else the flipper gets in my way inside the pocket. But the Southard's pocket clip actually rides nicely, and the angle helps keep the flipper out of the way in the pocket. The flipper is also quite low profile.

So far, the Southard flipper has exceeded all my expectations, and once again, Taichung has outdone themselves. This knife is a work of art, and it will be riding in my pocket for a while. Amazing job!

Mine came in today as well. Gorgeous knife. Fit and finish is outstanding. I love the stonewash on the blade and the titanium. Like others have already voiced, I do wish the clip matched the rest of the knife. It is still a very beautiful and functional clip regardless. Flipping action is very smooth and the blade is unsurprisingly razor-sharp. Congrats to Spyderco and Mr. Southard. This knife is excellent.

If anyone is desperately searching for one of these (as I was for the past few days), they are in stock (22 as of now) at New Graham knives (link) :)

I really like the shorter handle and longer blade compared to a Para 2, and I also like that is is lighter and easier to disengage than a Gayle Bradley, but feels just as tough.

Some pics of mine.. compared to a Gayle Bradley:
