Szabo Folder
see that nice little threaded area where the bar passes through. This if for a tension screw so they can pull the spring back and install the blade in the closed position. If you don't have this special screw it's very difficult to put the blade back in. this is something you learn from taking the knife apart.
this is the plate that works with the pin to keep the knife closed
Heres the locking side
Here's that plate behind the lockbar i had mentioned in the szabo impressions thread
The g-10 thats routed out to fit it
This is where the pin sits in the blade itself should have uploaded it with the last post

Holly crap, thats some complicated stuff. So I guess you can't take the spring off? And btw I don't have much experience with carbon fiber, so I still can't tell if its g10 or carbon fiber, anyone?

if you take the spring off there is no back up retention the spring is all that holds it closed. Also the spring is a pain in the *** to get back in and get hooked back up to the blade. Don't take it apart trust me not fun. It is black G-10 as far as i can tell the gold line cf is just a veneer on top the g-10 still a nice knife though. Also if you sand off all the gold line cf you would reveal the space for the spring and it would fall out. To the people that do after market scales good luck with this model
Awesome post! Thx for taking one for the team! You just made a lot a people happy! This knife has a lot of parts and I had to study your photos before it all made sense... the spring stuff is crazy and I hope it doesn't wear out to quick. I totally agree these scales will be pita to reproduce.

After watching this video, I think I am fine with the spring being there. Thanks for all the pictures and help!

For those of you wondering the detent ball is there to stop the leaf of the comp lock from rubbing on the blade. There is no hole in the blade for that bearing to sit in thus it does not aid in retention. I took one for the team but I don't recommend anyone else take this knife apart just stating that again.
+1, Definately thanks for taking one for the team and posting.IG-88 wrote:Awesome post! Thx for taking one for the team! You just made a lot a people happy!
