Welcome aboard, Dana and enjoy the Forum.
Normally, those bowie style spydies (Blackhawk, Renegade, Chinook) come with a swedge or false edge on the back of the blade, or no swedge at all (see the Lil'T) just in order not to harm yourself or your clothing.
Except the case when you or the former owner of the knife sharpened the back of the blade on purpose, you shouldn't have any poblems with it.

Dialex,
guess I wasn't very clear.
When the blade pivots to the closed position, the back part (not the top), has a small protrusion that is sharp because of the fine machined edge on this back side.
It is the part that makes up flush with the handle when locked open.

You're talking abou the locking bar, right? Is the sharp edge at the top(where the blade pivots) or at the bottom(where you push the bar to unlock)? If it's at the base of the lock bar,I've got like 2 or 3 older Spydies that have this stick out a little, and one of them is a little sharp. It may be from the lock wearing or just a production tolerance.

Not sure what you could do other than file it slightly to take the edge off. Does the blade lock up solid? How's the up/down play when it's open? You might want to contact Spyderco customer service. Blackhawks are out of production, but they might still be able to fix the lock.

Pretty clear now. As Dynarider said previously, you could try to file the protrusion down (or sent the knife to Spyderco, they should fix it).

Yes, will contact the company, figured maybe this was an engineering flaw that led to the discontinuation of this knife.
Maybe they will fix it up.
A favorite that fell out of my pocket because of the weak plastic clip (Walker) is also no longer produced.
