[quote="Blerv"]I know Sal's team should not have to babysit us but there are multiple moderators. Sal, Kristi, Mike Janich, etc. Let's assume if they see someone who is out of line. Perhaps even more than once and it's less than provoked. What is stopping them from handing out warnings or banning them completely?

We all know that brazen personal attacks, vulgarity, and all that is clearly wrong. Additionally we should all be somewhat cautious of how the written word can be taken, quick to apologize (even if not "wrong" but for words taken as "hurtful").

Blake my friend let me express my respect & gratitude for the way you post....Everyone please take note.... :D

We should chill out more on this forum and be gratefull we can discuss our passion with our favourite maker.. :)

Cliff Stamp wrote:As a general comment, if it is required to have "thick skin" to participate in this forum then the actions of the more zealous forum members are causing Spyderco to lose customer by their actions as lots of people are not going to participate in a forum where this is required as there are actually friendly places to discuss hobbies and they will simply do there.

Of what value is attacking a customer of Spyderco who looked forward to talking about his knives and enjoyed it to such an extend that he no longer enjoys it. Not only is he not going to participate here it likely left him with a bad taste which will influence commentary he has outside of the forum.

There is no benefit in attacking customers who discuss knives, leave the moderation to the professionals like Sal who have the experience, mentality and simply level of class required to respond to customers in that manner. No one is helping Sal or Spyderco by aggravating customers in that manner and it degrades the forum and promotes the perception that this is a forum for shills and not open discussion of the products.
"Here" in general aspect, not specifically this forum.
Thicker skin meaning not to take things personal...especially over the internet. I didn't attack him in any way and as I said I didn't care to read the whole thing. But, I know you were talking about others that may have come to the defense of spyderco.
My only post was to help the op saying that he should try bending the lock bar inward may fix the problem.

The first thread was at least worth it as it spoke about an alleged problem for the OP.

I can't see why everyone keeps taking the bait. Let it go. This thread has no purpose.

In general, having a very high tolerance for a defensive reaction is a good thing in general not just on the forums I would agree. However I do not see as a productive view that people should have to have a thick skin to participate on this forum which is manufacturer specific and should be the place that customers voice their opinions, good or bad, where Sal and company have immediate knowledge and can respond. If people are drove away as they are in this case because of the response of forum members - then in the vast majority of cases you just drove them to another forum where they will complain, and usually worse, and where Sal and company have no knowledge of, and no ability to respond, let alone control.

We do not really know what exactly drove away DC from this forum.

A person can say one thing while something different is the actual truth.

Didn't read any of the subject thread, but I do notice the "tone" in the Forum. I post far less now as a result.

I didn't read the original thread. I been butt hurt before ... couple times I even apologized for stuff I said ... no big deal ... takin' a cheap shot and then leaving = whimpy ... just sayin' .
I try to keep things nice on the internet... "Shiny Footprints" is a good read ... there are plenty of people on all the knife forums just looking to ram stuff down other peoples throats, be warned ... have fun anyway!
