I said tip up, but if it's a linerlock, it's tip down - I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.

- best wishes, Jazz.

Mostly tip-up right side carry but I like tip-down on folders with longer handles--flippers too and ditto for back pocket carry (which I don't do too often.) I guess it really depends on the knife and how I'm carrying it.

Arrrgh! I've over-complicated the choices! No vote! :o :p :D

Right-side tip-up carry on every folding knife for me.

Tip-down just doesn't feel right. It generally tends to poke my hand. (One exception to this would be the Caly Jr.)

In a way this helps limit the knives I want to purchase. If they can't be changed to tip-up or aren't tip-up only, I move on to another model.
My favorite Spyderco knives include: Caly 3.5, Chaparral, Delica 4 FFG, Stretch, Para-Military 2, Endura 4 FFG, Manix 2 & Manix 2 XL!

Hi everybody! :)

Tip Up - Right Side here. Deep pocket carry.

But I'm not particularly fanatic about clips. If I can remove it, I'll do it.

And in the present time, with all the weird regulations everywhere, it certainly seems to be a wise decision.

Most of the time left pocket, tip up unless it's a Military. Back left pocket Lil Matriarch while not at work. At work, the pants I wear have a dedicated knife pocket on the left side so the big one goes there and the Tasman Salt goes in the normal left pocket both tip up.

It's funny, I almost didn't buy my first Military because it is a tip down.
Now I carry all of my knives that way, unless that option isn't available.

When I am in public, I ike the Yo2 loose in my front right as a SD knife,
I can walk thru parking lots etc with my hand in my pocket on the Yo.
It makes it inconspicuous, but I feel safer, JIC.

Clipped, back right pocket or right side pocket if cargo pockets are available. Tip up or down, it doesn't matter. I do make most of my own lowrider clips, but I won't drill and tap additional holes. Not fussy about knives not having clips either, I carry my GB Air or Fallkniven U2 in their own pocket, usually cargo right.

Tip up whenever possible. I have a couple of knives that only do tip down so on the rare occassions that I carry those, I make do. I'm right-handed as well, so tip-up right was my vote.

I actually feel the exact opposite about drawing my knife. Tip up has always felt like less re-positioning in my hand was needed before deploying. :)

I've just never understood how that is possible. I've tried it both ways and tip up leaves me holding the knife at the tail end, so I have to really reposition in order to be gripping it in a usable manner. But tip down, grab it by the pivot and it swings down into my hand and is in the exact position I need to open it, so I move my thumb off the pivot and onto the hole.

I don't grab the knife only by the part that is sticking out at the top of my pocket. I make my draw by putting my thumb in my pocket on the side of the scale it needs to be so that the tail end of the knife is nestled in my palm. This way the knife is virtually in the in-hand position when I pull it out.

I was one of the few no clip votes
Presently carry Dragonfly 2 in the pocket
Other knives are all FRN Delicas w/o the clip

I don't really fit into one category, it varies by knife for me but I am right handed. I find the military works well tip down, for keeping the larger blade in check and having your hand at the right end of that big handle to open the knife. A minor drawback of tip-down I find is having to rotate the knife into opening position, but it becomes a fluid movement you get used to.
What I usually carry is a Paramilitary 2 or similar sized knife, in tip UP position which I find most natural as the knife comes out facing the right way and can be opened without changing grip.
Smaller knives like the dodo, leafstorm, techno I prefer to carry loose in pocket maybe with a small lanyard.
The other way I use is clip left, tip up, with a wave. It's a configuration native to the p'kal and I also carry my delica this way. Works well for a second knife either top of the front pocket or rear pocket.
I see, said the blind man.

Tip-up, with the pocket-clip on the side of the knife that is in my hand palm. It is not a carry preference, it is because for me the knife gives a better feel in hand with a pocket clip mounted like this. I don't like much the feel of the military with its one way mounted pocket-clip.

(N.B.: I don't like when the holes for the screws of the tip-down option let the washers exposed to dust).

I checked two boxes (it appeared the poll allowed this). One was right side tip up, which is how I carry all clipped knives for ergonomic consistency. The other was no clip, which I also do. Clipless happens most often in dress pants with 3" bladed folders. Larger knives are a pain to extract from most pocket bottoms.

I don't fit any categories so I didn't cast a vote.

For small to medium models- doesn't matter. I've learned to deploy pocket knives either way with no issue for my purposes anyway.

For large models - prefer tip down. Just for grins and when no one is looking, I like to flick open the blade, but with my middle finger rather than thumb. Having the clip mounted for tip down carry facilitates this methods nicely. I've been doing this for a long time and developed the middle finger strength to flick even some of the stronger spring tensioned mid-locks like the Police and Ulize.

I like to carry RBP or IWB (1 or 5 O'clock).
