I think that Sal and Ookami are on the same page. Lightweight, folding, non tactical, etc.

Personally I would like to steer clear of the throwing concept and the spike using a flat back or a small hammer nub (like a pipe hawk). With a 2-2.5" all purpose head it's not going to be a lumberjack tool but should be better than the average fixed blade. Light in hand and comfortable should be the goals.

I've been interested in some tactical tomahawks I've seen recently. A Spyderco made hawk would be fantastic !

Please make me a carpenters axe like tool with a pry end at the bottom of the handel PLEASE

A Sheath like this that still let's you hammer with a pocket/belt clip would be awesome.

It was funny when reading thru this thread because you have the same exact idea as me. I get so tired of seeing tactical this tactical that on everything nowadays I guess to try to boost sales. Just make a good solid product like spyderco has always done and it will sell and preform well.

Keep the blade small like the one I posted earlier at Fort William Henry. Ourancestors had it right. Small blade prevents the hawk from sticking

I'd like it too be small-ish.

*Bump*

It's been a couple of years since anyone's posted here, but I just wanted to know if there was any new updates? I'm really excited to hear Spyderco is considering making a tomahawk. Keep us updated, Sal! :) I'd love to see a finished product some day.

I saw Sal swinging a newly-arrived Spydie-Hawk prototype at this year's BLADE show. It was kind of humorous - he looked like a "kid in a candy store" with a new toy.

Nice looking Hawk, by the way. Not sure what the timeline for production looks like...

Hi Sal, what type of steel and handle material are you looking at? Are you going traditional with carbon steel and hickory/ash handle or some other type of steel and a fiberglass handle?

Cheers

Thanks Sal! That's great news! :D I can't wait to see the finished product. Are you making two different styles? Or are they pretty similar, just different sizes?

Very cool news! I've recently had some fun customizing a few cold steel tomahawks. The build quality is low, but the price is right and you're not worried about mucking one up. I'm very interested to see a Spyderco design that will be good to go out of the box.

Hi Jon,

One is a tactical design by Laci Szabo and the other is a hatchet/Tomahawk hybrid by Martin Genzow.

This one looks very spyderco-ish:
