Dragonfly 2 (G-10) VG-10 Testing

#401

Post by xceptnl »

I have been putting together furniture all weekend and finally had some boxes to break down (we have been preparing for a move so all boxes have been in the save pile recently). I was going to go grab a mule for the job, but the G-10 Dragonfly 2 has been riding in my FL pocket for weeks now. This little big knife did everything I expected and then some. The 50/50 choil snagged the cardboard occasionally, but overall I was amazed. I think this finally makes up my mind that I need a ZDP and possibly another G-10 to make a super dragonfly. Enjoy!

Sitting here at my cubicle eating lunch. Stupid plastic knife wouldn't cut through my Southwestern chicken breast. So I whip out my Centofante 3 and start slicing away. Poor dumb bird never stood a chance, heh, heh.

Seeing how today is my birthday I used my maroon ZDP Caly Jr to open this; a gift from my wonderful wife.

I took my shiny new Dragonfly Salt (SE) to work today to test-drive it. Used it on a bell pepper which I had as a breakfast snack, then on tomatoes I had as a side for my lunch. Heck, this lil' bugger is a serious slicer!

As usual, opening letters and packages, hate cleaning that gooey sticky tape gunk off the blade!

Used one of my Pacific Salt to push a lion fish out of a hole to line it up for a better shot off Ft Lauderdale. mmmmm lion fish taste good! Unfortunately the knife didn't make it back with me but no worries; thanks to H1 it will look like new when I go back and find it. I love H1

truth be told this is how i used my Spidie yesterday; today the possibilities are endless :D

Used my delica to cut off old electrical tape on all the switches and outlets in my kitchen. Also used said delica to cut new pieces of tape for the newly installed switches and outlets. I cut open a few packages and letters that came in the mail. Then I used it to cut up some tinder for my fire pit then after my day was done I took it to work were I used it to slice open a few odds and ends. Oh and I used it to slice me some apple up on my lunch brake. Just a day in the life of my edc. Sorry its not so glameris but that's what I did.

I am sure I missed some things but w/e.

Had my Manix2 out in the bush for the last two days and it performed like the champion that it is. Was used for everything possible - shaving sticks for tinder, fire making, camp area preparation, slicing para-cord for stringing up shelters, clearing vines/pants around climbing anchor points, food prep, turning sausages on the hotplate, stirring coffee you name it, it did it.

I always take a bigger fixed blade with me when camping (Esee 4) but on this trip it wasn't used once, the Manix2 did everything I need. Great knife.

I decided it would be a good time to chime in on this thread. :) Actually I’ll chime in for my wife, seeing that she was the one using the knife and not me. So yesterday, my wife assisted my father-in-law in getting the family’s deer stands prepared for the upcoming deer season. (My wife and her family are about as fanatical about deer hunting as I am about Spyderco knives :D ). Anyway, my wife came home yesterday afternoon and gave a glowing report on her Spyderco Persistence. According to my wife, she decided to take her Persistence along “just in case” she needed a blade to help cut the burlap, rope, and nylon straps for the deer stands. Turns out she used the knife several times and was extremely impressed with its cutting performance. (I had originally given the knife to her two years ago as a Christmas gift to see if she’d like the concept of carrying an EDC blade. After carrying it for about a year, she decided she really liked carrying a knife, so I surprised her with a 75mm Ed Schempp Persian in G-10. She now carries the Persian as her main EDC blade). Just thought I’d share this with you all. :)
