All these varied opinions tell me one thing: we want a knife bigger than a delica but smaller than an endura. Something with a 3.25" or 3.5" blade perhaps?

Everyones first Spyderco should be a Delica. :)

If you want something in between and is (in my opinion) THE BEST KNIFE EVER, I'd get the Spyderco Stretch.

(Stretch, Endura, Delica, Dragonfly)

If you go Delica you will regret not having the bigger blade. Trust me.

A few years ago I would have said a Delica, but since purchasing an Endura about a year ago I absolutely love the bigger knife, and rarely carry my Delica anymore. The only problem with an Endura is that it is a pretty big knife at 8 3/4" overall length - So they aren't all that sheeple/office friendly. If that is an issue you may be better off going with the Delica in blue or green. (the pretty colors seem to have a calming effect on non-knife people :D )

I'm Delica or Stretch. The D4 is a compact package legal almost anywhere in the states. A real slicer. The Stretch an ergo king giving up little blade to the Endura.

Most will prefer the Endura tho. It's less quirky :)

I prefer the Endura though I have both the Delica and the Stretch. I have a love hate relationship with the Delica IV, I just realized today that I'm on my eighth one. I love the size of the scales but I still dislike the blade, even the FFG ones. I was a big fan of the Delica III and probably always will wish for its blade on the IV's. I do like the Stretch and use it as a folding skinning knife but prefer the slimmer Endura for EDC.

It took me a lot longer to pull the trigger on an Endura IV but its the one that I have used the most out of the three. The bit of extra blade length seems to help when I'm cutting strap and rope. Granted I carry it mainly at work and carry something a bit smaller when I go into a city.

Endura. Also, the Endura has this funky thing where sometimes when I open it, it's like the blade telescopes out of the handle, it just seems too big compared to that FRN handle. For me, 4" is perfect, and that's why I took the Endura. Ultimately though, it's your choice. 3" or 4"? It's your choice, and depends on your lifestyle. However, this is one case where size does matter ;)

Delica iv in SS is one of my favourites. Remember its not the size its how you use it.

If you were looking at FRN handles of CF I would suggest the Stretch but from your OP it looks like SS, I have a couple of Endura's but never really warmed up to them. I carry a Delica IV SS in CE regularily. Absolute workhorse, you won't be disapointed.

If you can only have one, Delica FFG.

If you can, get both in FFG.

Buy either one and use it. That will bring you to the event horizon......then an inescapable tumble down the "Rabbit Hole".

Congratulations! Great choice.

If you love the size and overall form factor but want one to just beat on, the Byrd Cara Cara is less expensive and still built like a tank (and designed by and built for Spyderco).
