Knife: Pacific Salt SE

This photo was taken as I was out shooting in the Rocky Mountains with a friend. While we were shooting, the weather went from being overcast to rain and then it started to snow. Definitely a memory and I was glad that I had my Pacific Salt on me with its amazing H1 steel to share it with. I took the photo after placing it on top of a pine bush next to a beaver's den and our shooting position.

I could have cropped it to make it look more centered, but I figured you guys would probably rather have the larger image to work with so here it is.

I have an image 3888x2592. Is there any way to get it up to 2700 width? It's so close and yeah. I'm going to try to borrow a camera, but it'd be much easier to change the current one somehow. Help? And eiten, I like the first one better, the second one looks a bit blurry at the tip, although it is focused at the H1 bit, but I just like the overall focus in the first. FWIW

These are my two work horses. I would trust in the performance and reliability of these two knives over anything else on the market.

Ya I know, however the second looks much better on everything else (preview, photobooth, etc.) I dont know what happened with the forum, it made it much more fuzzy near the tip and handle. I love the second photos angle and lightening, I just think its a better photo but I may just have submit the first one due to the blurriness. Thank you for your input.

Two solutions I can think of. One is to frame the photo with a border, the other I posted earlier in this thread:
The Deacon wrote:If you have, or are able to download, Google Picasa you can us it to crop your photo to the required 8.5 X 11 format, then use its "Edit in Picnik" function to open the formatted photo in Picnik, enlarge it with Picnik's resize feature to meet the contest's size requirement and save the enlargement. That's what I wound up doing. I use a Nikon D60 DSLR and had no intention of investing in another camera. I was going to use a border, but tried Picnik even though I didn't think it would preserve the 300dpi resolution. Was pleasantly surprised to find out it did and very pleased with the result.

Even though I submitted this for the 2011 calendar, I figure I put a lot of time into it so I will try again. Growing up, NASA was at the forefront of technology and exploration, pushing the leading edge of designs and materials. In many ways, I feel that Spyderco is a kindred spirit, always looking to explore new steels and testing the boundaries of what can be achieved. For this reason, I thought that the Manix 2 is a great example of the technology being utilized and so, as NASA did with man, I put mine into space, with an eye toward the infinite cosmos.

Knife: originally a grey Frn UKPK, now with homemade red chokecherry handles made by myself
Image
This picture was taken on my fishing tackle box a few years back. I really like how there are so many colors. Believe it or not I went out in the woods with my ax in hand and got the wood used to make the handles myself, cut the wood myself, sanded and shaped them. It was a long process but a fun experience. Now my favorite knife

Egyptologists recently discovered a secret chamber deep underground near the Giza plateau. Inside they found the following carvings depicting humanoid figures with very unusual heads. The carving features three of Spyderco's earliest products: the Portable Hand, Sharpmaker, and serrated C01 Worker. The Spyderco logo appears, with "Spyderco" spelled out across the top in hieroglyphics. Sal and Eric Glesser's tags, and names are also spelled out inside cartouches.

I recently got the Perrin PPT, and have been bowled over by the quality, fit and finish, and ergonomics of this knife. It has quickly become my favorite EDC. Today evening, my wife brought green leafy vegetables, and I was tasked to clean them up (especially take out their roots). Out came my PPT, and the job was done in no time, efficiently and easily. Here is a shot of the knife taking rest among the vegetables it cleaned/prepared. :-) No photoshop, direct from camera to the forum submission...

I was going to photograph another knife, but never got to it, so I once again post my EDC. Finally got an edge back on what has been a dull knife for a while.

I thought I would throw my hat in the ring. (pun intended) :)

This is the Spyderco Phil Wilson South Fork.

Ever since the news broke here on the forum that Phil and Spyderco were going to do a collaboration, this knife has been on the top of my must have list. I grew up fly fishing in the Uintah mountains and I believe that fishing is something near and dear to the designer Phil Wilson's heart as well. This entry is a tribute to both an incredible knife design and the love of fishing.

Jtoler, very nice photo appreciate the effort. Do you also fish in the Wasatch Mountains? I went to HS in Ogden-- yeah a long time ago. Fished the trout streams around Morgan and skiied Snow Basin when they still had the wooden chair lift. Off the subject but still love Utah. I go back when I can . Phil

Hi Phil,

I have fished In the Wasatch. I also grew up and finished school in Ogden. We fished the Ogden and Weber river for years. I am currently teaching our three children to fly fish up near Spirit Lake. Snow Basin is great. I learned at Powder Mountain myself.

Sorry about the thread hijack.

End of line.

I'll submit good old Darkside, my old Paramilitary 2 DLC. I bought this knife because it's like Darth Vader in knife form, it's like a crisp black suit that demands respect. I love Autumn so i'm usually outdoors a lot that time of year, and i thought the all black had a really cool contrast with the vibrant colors of the leaves.

Knives : Endura, Delica and Ladybug

The Delica and Endura have great sentimental value to me. My 1st generation models were the first Spydercos and first single hand openers that I owned and started the interest in single hand opening, locking folders. A Ladybug is always with me on my keys. So the idea was to get a photo inspired by the iconic camel train photos taken from the air where the shadows are more obvious than the actual camels. The Endura, Delica and Ladybug would be a "family" of knives .... I got some of those photos but I was happier with this photo with the shadows and reflections visible in the image. Still got the "family" and the shadows that I set out to get but just different.

This knife was at my side on my first successful whitetail deer hunt. I look forward to it accompanying me on many more for years to come.
