Who knows, maybe the freight or dealers are taking a while to get them out?

The problem here is likely dealers who apparently have no idea how ordering works. They either sold goods (prepurchased) or promised them (preorder) that they didn't have in stock. If people placed preorders at Spyderco.com it would be different because the company would be the one misleading the public.

Sadly they are still going to take guff. I didn't get my Dodo from a popular internet retailer. It was completely their fault for being silly.

Spyderco obviously has a lot of work to do in the area of supply chain management.

Luckily they don't have any problems winning awards. :)

It was a knife that has been pined over for the last half decade by an obsessive niche audience. Michael Janich made it less weird looking and they are listing for like $105 retail.

I'm surprised people weren't crushed at the doors like a Walmart Black Friday sale honestly. Blame the dealers for failing to deliver on promises if anything.

I don't think you understand the problem. Yes, dealers sold a product they didn't have but it was because they had the reasonable expectation that it wouldn't take Spyderco over half a frickin' year to produce enough to meet the demand (they still haven't, by the way). Part of supply chain management is gauging market demand and Spyderco failed miserably in this instance.

I like Spyderco products but the company isn't perfect. I just hope they learn from this fumble.

For the record, I wasn't trying to fault Spyderco. My point was they must be shipping to dealers if they're selling them at Blade.
But, they did way under-forecast demand for the Yo 2.

There is one up on eBay for $210 with a buy it now. Money solves most supply problems and waiting solves the rest. If selling out quickly is a result of failing then almost every big company is at fault let alone the small ones. Apple, Boeing, Mini Cooper, etc.

Without sounding more like a seething fanboi I'll stop talking. :) I'm new to the game here but have been waiting since 2009 for a Yojimbo and just didn't want to shell out the cash. Waiting a little longer for $105 is a deal, imho.

Attention! The Yo's are starting to appear. I've got mine. Every crumb for himself. 6 months is nothing. I can do 6 months standing on my head! :D

But can you do it while flicking your Yo2.
Glad to hea that you and others have finally received one of the best knives
around. I was lucky enough to get one back in November that I use strictly
as a seld defencse knife. It is in my right pocket now as I am at the office.

However, I want another one to USE and use and use and use.............

Mine just shipped.... I think that this is the longest I've ever waited for a knife. Every other knife I thought I had to have and couldn't get, I ended up finding something else to catch my interest in the meantime, but not the Yojimbo 2.

Oh, I havent received it yet. It still has to find its way to me, at the bottom of Africa. I will also probably buy another if they become available, just as a security blanket. In many ways, this is my ideal knife. I just hope they see their way clear to making a Yo2 XL. That would be beyond awesome.

Got mine today. I actually had my hands on one early this year; but the holes were improperly drilled for left-handed carry, so I returned it.

It's great to finally have a Yojimbo 2. Worth the wait!

There was a guy on YouTube who had the same problem. Hopefully the long wait was due to Spyderco resolving the QA issues.

Well, I went ahead and pre-ordered one of these from KnifeCenter just now.

Seems like the jury's still out as to when these will actually start shipping again, but with a knife like this I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm a huge fan of the compression lock and this Wharncliffe style blade with it's long straight edge seems perfect for me. And as much as I love the PM2 I think I'd enjoy something in this size a bit more.

And now for the waiting game...

mine should be arriving today :) i had my pre-order in with KC and when i saw a post about this other dealer having them for sale, i jumped on it and got the last one, then cancelled my pre-order with KC.

i really hope they made enough to fill everyone orders and some. I sure wish i had a company that had customers begging for my product...and when i dont deliver for over half a year...still begging. Gotta love those spydies!

Hi Austinguy,

Sales predictions were based on the first Yojimbo. Obviuously Michael's design is more in demand now. We also like to do a run to see if any glitches surface. They are currently scheduled for monthly production. We'll see what happens.

Sorry for the disappointment.

Just a heads up, I received my Yo2 on Friday. I had preordered in December. Looks like they are coming guys. Be patient!

The things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. People are good; honor, courage, virtue mean everything; power and money mean nothing; good always triumphs over evil; true love never dies. A man should believe in those things, because they are worth believing in.

Where are the Yojimbo 2s?

Well, as of this afternoon .... in my very happy hand!

Image

And ... having fun outdoors!

Image

Stitches from my knife sharpening mishap on the 6th came out yesterday, but that was a day early and it's still not quite healed at the surface ... so have to keep it super glued and secured with some skin closures so I can use the hand without opening the cut!

Anyway .... all I have to say about the Yojimbo 2 is .... it was worth the wait!
