Oh, ok. I thought sharpening is considered use. You should see my blades. Like me, they look beyond their age.

I'm glad that when I started sharpening none of my knives had an opening hole. I have several "forests" to hide my unexperienced "trees" but still when it comes to sharpening I get nervous. Use-scratches are fine, sharpening mishaps are dangerous: they make me tell stories like: "That boar I did fight with got hold of the blade so I had to finish him bare hands."

My charakter suffers everytime I take the wrong angle while sharpening but when you look at my knives you know I'm famous

Sorry about your knife. I have several blades that I have done similar things to.
The first scratch is the worst adn I totally understand. Howevr, the only way to
prevent this happening is either to not buy it or not use it, just leave it in the box.
These things happens, the knife probably feels proud about it..

Just like the one on my truck, it's not a "scratch" -- it's a "scar".

If you use it well, it will get more "scars".

You just popped its cherry! Did the exact same thing to my para2 m390 and was beside myself. The good thing that came of it is I work the knife like it was ment to be worked now. Needles to say there are many more scratches and it dosent bug me at all. No use in having a tool and not use it and as someone said already the first scratch is the deepest.
