Matriarch 2 en route! Now what do I do with it?

#1

Post by Onionman »

Got a great deal on a NIB Matriarch 2 and it should be here today or tomorrow. I realize this is a SD knife but I would like to find other uses if I can. I know it's not covered by the Spyderco warranty but I have no intention of making this knife a "safe queen" or display item. Any suggestions? I'll carry it over the weekend and give an update on any good uses I find.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Well, someone described the Tasman as a bionic finger you can use to pick up gross stuff off the ground. The Matriarch 2 is just more so. Walk around looking for something you don't wanna touch with your finger, whip out the Mat2, and go to town!
I bought mine because I thought is was so cool-looking and reasonably priced. Haven't really done anything with it since even though I love to use my Tasman and Spyderhawk in the yard cutting vines, twine to bind stuff, etc.

It's my understanding they should not include the disclaimer wording and they are indeed covered for NORMAL edc type use. Taz recently made a comment that any with a tag were done so accidentally. Best to call up Spyderco or search but I'm about 99% sure.

As for use, anything you can rock with a serrated reverse S while keeping the tip attached. :D

I'd simply stick it in my pocket and then cut anything that looked like it needed cuttting.
I prefer a plain edge blade but a serrated blade can cut most anything it wants.

Tracking info says it will be delivered today! Hoping to have time tonight to test it out and cut some things. With any luck it won't be the skin under my fingernails, but I appreciate the suggestion v8r.

That looks awesome Tony!
