Some nice pics in here! I always love getting my Spydies dirty and dull... gives me a chance to clean and sharpen them!
Here are a few cellphone pics from my trip to the high Canadian Arctic last week to visit my family. I still need to take these puppies apart and give them a good scrubbing to get the smell out. :o
My trusty Sage. A little short for the job, but still worked like a charm. Been in my pocket for almost two years now, and has cut more cardboard and nylon strapping than I care to admit. I wish I could get a good picture of the scratches on the blade, but they hide well. The CF scales show absolutely no wear at all, even after a few falls on concrete, and being carried alongside a flashlight, which was worn smooth by the ole' Sage.
Decided to give the Para2 a shot, and the slightly longer blade made the work a little easier.
And finally, a fresh one! Pulled this one out from under 6' of ice, and tried not to butcher it too much, but I fear my inexperience did the fish no justice.
Now that I'm back home, time for some much needed maintenance!

Thanks! I had fun, to be sure. I was up in Inuvik, NWT. The fish I caught was at my Uncle's cabin, about 20 miles north of town. I got up there just in time, as the ice road was just closed, and the river is expected to start breaking up in the next couple of weeks. Inuvik is a very nice place to visit, but extremely expensive, owing to its relatively isolated location ($19 for a block of Black Diamond cheddar, and $1.81/L of gas). For a sportsfisherman/explorer looking for adventure, I'd say Alaska is a better bet. And back to the topic at hand: yes, it has to be one of my favourite threads as well. I love a mint, well cared-for knife as much as the next guy, but it's so satisfying to see them getting used and loved.

My most used knife. Delica4 that I dyed green, then black. Gave it to someone at work to use. He had it for over a year. When I got it a hold of it again the blade was dull, scratched up and stained, coated in black crud and was loose. the scales were smooth with crud too. And the clip was falling off. I took it home and cleaned it up. Tightened everything up and sharpened it. this is how it looked then:
Then a week or so ago I was over at a friends house who has a sandblaster, so I blasted the blade and clip, then stonewashed them.
Now:
I wish I had taken some pics before I gave it to my coworker and then after he was done with it before I cleaned it up. It is incredible what this poor knife has been through. Looks awesome to me. The way the black dye has faded out leaving the green behind. Makes it look antiqued sort of.
I have a Salt1 that I use a lot too. I will shoot a couple shots of it soon too.
