Problem with M390 on the Para 2

Ok so I love this knife but I do have one problem with the M390 steel...Edge retention...It just takes and holds the edge way too long!! I have used it to cut cardboard and whittle wood(and hairs) and cut paracord but I just cant seem to get this knife dull enough to sharpen it, I want to use my edge pro on it but just cant get it to not shave hair I have only touched it up once and just barely, but then I used it a lot since then...Anyone else have the same problem?????

Yep, that stuff holds an edge for a looooong time. I cut a piece of light wire which dulled the edge and it took some work with diamonds and ceramic to get it back. No chipping though, just dull.

Okay, don't panic.

Write to Spyderco and explain your issue. I am sure that they will be able to chime in with a proper solution. Most probably, it has something to do with the heat treatment :D

My comment above is a joke. Hope you get it.

I don't have a M390 Para2. I do however have a M390 Millie. I was able to cut up about ten boxes made of recycled material and the edge is still holding up. That is aside from cakes, sandwiches and countless number of fruit that has passed through its razor edge so far.

Have fun with that blade.

I cant wait to use my M390 knives. My S90V Para 2 is STUCK in my pocket and I can't really wrap my head around something being even better. Um, congrats on your problem?

I've had to sharpen my M390 Para2 only once after months of constant use. I find that the steel takes an excellent edge and sharpens nicely. The blade seems to "sing" as I guide it over the stones. It's hard to describe, but the knife just feels good in the hand. This might be a little "out-there", but that is my experience with this excellent knife. I hope that it sheds some light on the subject.

Indeed I am having this issue as well. After tearing through dozens of cardboard, it just won't stay put. It is quite the stubborn blade.

I went a different route with M390 the with then blue para 2 to test out M390.

Cant wait for the knife to arrive and will post plenty of pictures :D

Spyderco's M390 is my favourite steel to date

That's an easy problem to fix. Just make ~800 cuts through cardboard and that should take care of the stubbornly sharp edge. At least that's what worked for me.

Ok anyways I think spyderco should have a regular production folder with M390...what do y'all think?
