First impressions of my Dragonfly2

Just got a Dragonfly2, and thought that I should post some first impressions I got from it.
(edit to add: this concerns the straight edge FRN handle version)

Sharpness - this thing absolutely rocks. I tested it out by first cutting up the poor envelope it arrived in, and though it's a cliche, "hot knife through butter" applies here. Next victims were the hairs who were unfortunate enough to inhabit an area on my left arm - they're now gone, with hardly any effort.

Size - this knife fits my hand perfectly. Small, yet with a nice blade that's large enough to be useful for being more than a pen knife.

Fit, finish, appearance & "build" - despite being "just plastic" :cool: you can't be other than impressed by how solid it feels, while maintaining a low weight. Blade isn't quite mirror bright, which could be because I've put my grimy finger prints all over it already. Must handle my new preciouzzzzz :p .

Wire clip - sturdy. Noticably stiffer and a bit more difficult to put it back into your pocket with one hand. I guess it comes with practice, like everything else :) .

Opening - being used to the larger models (Tenacious & Native), I find it slightly awkward to open when I hold it in my right hand, while OTOH, it comes perfectly natural in my left (I'm right-handed). Still, practice makes perfect I guess.

Minor nitpick is that the edges of the Spyderhole are way sharper than the holes on my Tenacious, Native or Ladybug. I can see it wearing a bit on your thumb with repeated openings of the knife. Still, not a deal-breaker for me.

All things considered, I really like this knife a lot :) . I might take some fine sand paper and smooth out the edges of the hole, but I'll use it for a couple of weeks first and see if (a - I get used to it, or (b - using it smooths it out.

Great little knife. :) I like the holes sharper, especially on the smaller knives - it makes them easier to open. In fact, I sharpen any I'm not happy with. The Dfly cuts way bigger than it is. Enjoy your knife.

I have 2 that I alternately carry, a SS PE and a G10 SE.
Lately the SE sees the most use. Great little knives.

I got a Dragonfly2 Salt recently.

It's just one super duper blade.

Nearly lost it once on the train as it got caught on someone's clothing and popped out of my pocket. Heard it drop and quickly picked it up. Had it been the grey G10, I would have surely lost it.

The factory set utility edge soon wore out after I went through about two hundred envelopes and a some plastic wrapping and tape. The SM soon remedied that.

Hope you enjoy yours as well As I do mine. It's one of a kind.

I don't think there was ever a G-10 SE, did you blade swap it?

I don't mind the sharper edges either. It does aid in opening. I think your right in that I might have a callus starting on my thumb.

Actually it is FRN. I did grind the original FRN clip
off and installed an SS Calypso Jr. Clip on
the opposite scale to match my carry
preference.

Dragonfly2 is probably one of my most used Spydies. I have the yellow H-1/SE version sitting in the kitchen by the sink, and I am pretty sure that I use it at least once daily, if not 10 times daily.

Congrats on the D'Fly :) This model is a terrific example of what :spyder: does well. A terrifiic grip and super light weight makes it a favorite of mine also :D

The Dragonfly is an awesome little big knife, well designed and well made. It's the knife that can and does go everywhere.

Picked up a ZDP dragonfly last month, carry it daily along with the stretch. I actually find myself using the d'fly almost every time.
