Buy Sprints, then Flip Them at a Profit?

Discuss Spyderco's products and history.

HOLY CRAP, I am gone for a few days and this thread is still getting kicked around. This is good stuff. "flippers are lowlifes" "if you flip keep quiet" Love the judgement here. People that whine about missing a sprint are lowlife cry babies. If you don't flip keep quiet. Sorry had to get the name calling out of the way. Seems to be what is supposed to be done here I guess.
And this was just for fun, so chill.

In short,
We can settle this like adults, isn't that right Mr. Poopy pants.

No, it isn't. It's a truth. Capitalism revolves around private ownership, means of production, creation of goods and services and capital accumulation. "Flipping" knives falls well within this construct.

"Fair" lends its self to more of a Socialist form of economy where regulation is key. It's economic premises lies with social ownership and control of the means of production and distribution.

Not a cheap shot. A relevant discussion when speaking of economic moralities. I for one stated factually that I do not flip knives but do not have a problem with the practice in the least. You implied that I was a liar and must flip knives quietly and that sir contradicts exactly what I said so either you are calling me a liar or your reading comprehension was impaired at the time (now that's a cheap shot)

Fair and Capitalism are not the same thing and represent different mind sets.

I said I support capitalism. Others go on about fair.

I'm not the one taking jabs at the very economic system that allows for Spyderco to exist.

If you support fair I would contend that if someone were to be "butt hurt" it would be you.

My butt feels fine and thanks for asking :)

You're doing great Chuck,

Seven Tips for Arguing Online

1. Don’t address the points
2. Never follow and read the links your opponent offers up as evidence
3. Offer analogies that make no sense
4. Try to mix in controversial topics to destabilise your opponent.
5. Move the goal posts
6. Have the last word
7. If all else fails…
Play the man not the ball. Don’t answer any of his points, but just call his entire argument ‘moronic’ without giving a shred of evidence why. If you repeatedly describe your opponent and his arguments in language that implies stupidity or simplicity, the others in the room will assume you know more and will begin to agree with you.

Nobody's going to change anybody's mind at this point, so it's kinda useless to try to make any sense. :p

I stopped following the thread awhile back and don't know context of this post.. but it was pretty much hilarious.. and surprisingly true.

I will add an observation, the more people there are buying up multiple knives constantly on each sprint, the larger the sprints will become, for example I have some sprints from a few years ago (blue Manix 2, M4 Military) that were batches of 400 or 500, however the last batches of sprints (CF Military, Brown PM2, Orange PM2, Blue PM2, etc) have all been batches of 800. Dealers will see the extra demand and how fast sprints sell out and order more, I bet both CS and KW wouldn't have minded adding another 200 to the most recent PM2 sprints if they had known how fast they would sell out and this will influence how many they order in future sprints. It wouldn't make sense to only order 800 knives if you know you can consistently sell out of that many in a week. I might not bump up the run if this happened once or twice, but more than that I probably would add 200 more and see how that did (still sells out in week an half 2 or 3 times) bump it up again.

I'm such a low life scum. You see, I had 2 orange paramilitaries that I bought. You know, the ones where everyone had ample notice about them being an upcoming sprint, and then ample time to purchase once they went on sale..... What did I do just yesterday though? I sold one....for a profit. You see....I noticed that the M390 military was available again that I chose not to order when it was originally availale, but I had no cash for it. So, sell an orange para for a little profit and almost cover the cost of an m390 military for what I got for it. Yep, I am scum. A proud low life who now owns a m390 military

What Evil D said.

All of my Spyderco knives are 'users' and I have only ever sold 3 because they were duplicates. I find the act of 'flipping' sprint run knives to be reprehensible and the perpetrators to be unethical and self-serving sods. But that is just my opinion. :)

This is funny!

A while ago I was browsing the Ebay and caught an auction for one of these M390 Military's with the date code BL and it ended selling for $232.50 with free shipping.

If someone tried to make money off it, it didnt work because by time the Ebay fees, Paypal fees and shipping comes out of the $232.50, I would say he lost money didnt he! I think they were sold at $220 plus shipping!

That's a good flip job there, huh? :D

Hey, blame the band. Stop going to their concerts and steal their music. Screw them over if you don't like what they do. In the case of Spyderco, stop buying knives if you don't like it. You really don't need any more. They make the rules of the game. Don't blame the guy with the ability to play the game better than you. Unless you're a complete loser, that is. ;)

Don't worry, there's no present risk of that, none at all. :( And I say that as a friend, just think what the others would be saying. :D
