Stainless Steel Cricket

#1

Post by Kentucky Rifle »

Two weeks ago, I called my regular knife shop and asked if they could order me a SS Cricket. They checked and said, "not yet". Friday I got a surprise call from my knife shop. "We have a SS Cricket, would you like it"? WOULD I!!!! 15 minutes later, it was clipped to my pocket! It's a beautiful, smooth, thin knife with a "frame lock" and "VG-10" blade steel.

Why is everyone acting like the ss cricket is so new? I bought mine in 96 or 97.

Ronin203,
I think you're refering to the liner-lock aluminum cricket, with the tufram (or was it almite) coating.
The SS Cricket has stainless steel scales, and a Chris Reeve style frame-lock.

KR,
I just received mine in the mail. It's going on my keychain (I may actually remove the clip). It is VERY thin.
Ted, the framelock is just like the CRK and the Ti Salsa. All it needs is a little use to loosen it up

Just got mine and it's awful nice but I dont' think that it'll replace my fave framelock. However, I do like how the thin the knife is and how nice the lanyard hole is. And with VG-10 you just can't go wrong.

Boxer,
I've thought about removing the clip also. However, the SS is so thin, I think I'll leave it on. As far as "loosening it up", I just put some Militec-1 on mine and it's fine now. I LOVE that lube!

Just got my Collectors SE and PE today also. Sweet blade and the handle is sooooo thin. They're just begging to be sent to Frank Recupero for "The Thickening".

Ya know there is a bright side..... I think...
I'll have lots of time to figure whether it'll be PE or SE

My SS Cricket has been on me every day since I got it. (Titanium Salsa on the other side.) I've got a lot of knives. I even had to buy another safe for knives and guns. Spyderco is definitely the way to go. I love them!
