I carry an SS PE or PS Police in my RF pocket for pretty much all utility purposes. I have a Matriarch in a River City neck sheath for those times when I can't talk my way out of something. Hopefully, all I'll ever do with it is practice. :-)

The Police does whatever I ask it to, from cutting boxes to cutting fuel lines and leather. And, I wouldn't hesitate to use it for SD.

I carry for utility, but it brings me comfort to know that in a threatened situation I would be able to do something. EDC this week is my all SS Native with the combo edge. I have physical limitations, muscular dystrophy, FSH type. My wife says "you old fool (age 66) they would just take your knife away and use it on you." She is probably right but I still like the feeling of having a knife to help in some situations.

Definatly utility first. First spyderco knife I owned was a pro-grip SS. I liked the steel and Kraton on the handle and it fit nicely in my pocket. Think I read a story somewhere about someone cutting through a 1" steel cable with a spyderco knife and decided to get one for myself. Unfortunatly I left it in a hotel room in Twin Falls, Idaho when I moved here from the NW . Just ordered a carbon-fiber police SE and a Ronin which I will carry almost everywhere just in case I think. Should be here tomorrow cant wait.

#1 I'm too old to run and never have been of that disposition, I don't look for a fight! but if brought to my face or a threat to my family i won't hesitate to use any means avalible to me.
Bare hands would be my first choice 14 years of kickboxing helps.
If confronted by a weapon my 1st instinct would be to cut the attacking arm, my last resort would be a firearm.
I carry for both usually utility being the major concern.
I like to talk my way out of a problem when I can anyway .Ron

Yes.
You should always have a defensive plan(knife or no knife), and you should always have at least 1 Spydie razor sharp, just "in case".

I usually carry a Camillus CUDA Maxx and a Civilian for SD and a third knife as EDC utility but it is also SD capable.

Hi Allen,

My official party line is I carry my tools for utilitarian purposes - although I've had a bit of a problem with Civilian's tip when it comes to cross-tip (Phillips) screws. Guess I need to take Dialex's advice and use a Jester. Seriously though I carry a Gunting drone and have no utilitarian justification going. The local LEOs find the drone interesting and like the less than lethal rationale.
