You're welcom about the sites. As far as combo vs plain; thats really up to the user.

All my blades except my hawkbill LB are plain edge. A plain edge will do just fine for most people. You can even keep the edge with a slightly rough finish so it gives a similar result to serrated. Many here like serrated blades and some the combo.

If you think you will use the serration a lot, I would go with combo or spyder edge. If you might use it once in a great while; I would just go for the plain edge. It really depends on your use intended.

"Best" is up to you. A sharp PE knife will drag less. It allows a more secure grip and tends to ride clothing less. Almost all self defense knives are PE.

Really though you can defend yourself with anything. There is a guy recently in Africa who fought off three people with machetes using a hammer (hardware store variety). He woke to them standing over his bed.

Endura ZDP or ParaMillie (for the sole reason that it has a better lock-up, which is more important to me than the length difference between the para and the full Millie)
