What's the steel in this little powerhouse? Mine's finally retired in a small Spydie zippered pouch... but i'm still curious.

It's the C35... the C65 is the Lum Chinese...

but besides that, the steel in the C35 Q is 440C. (The C65 has VG-10). Big Brother C67 "R" in the "missing link" in my info... only in the 99 book, which I don't have(and the site doesn't have either).

I have an "R" on the way through a purchase from a BladeForums member (along with a second blue G-10 Native). I'll let you know the steel when it arrives - providing it's marked on the blade or box.

Sorry, ya. I meant the C35, it's just that those two (Lum and Q) used to be my EDC so i got their C# mixed up.

Thanks for answering the question so fast.

cheers.

VWolf,

Jes' whupped out my SE "R". The blade is ATS34 with an Almite coated aluminum handle. The R was introduced in 1999 so interestingly, the 1998 mini-catalog that came with mine did not include data on the "R" either.

Regarding the blade:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=1 face=arial>quote:<hr height=1 noshade>"At 3 1/2 inches, the blade of the "R" is a full inch longer than the "Q" (probably for increased strength) and lacks its imbedded "bug" shape, but retains its opening hole and overall pattern. ATS-34 steel is used and both PlainEdge and SpyderEdge versions have appeared. Everything about this blade is more robust. Even the saber hollow grinding has been kept to a minimum: one has to look for it to find it" <hr height=1 noshade></BLOCKQUOTE></font><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2>

Thus sayeth "The Book"

Now I need to find a PE version! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

thx java.

Think I'll have to get a copy of the good book. The little things like this do me in.
