Most of the time I'm carrying just one and at the moment depends on my mood.
And always the little ones. ;)

Yesterday was my Forrest Green Ladybug I/SE and today my G10 Byrd Robin.

And I always have my Victorinox Rambler on my key ring.

Today I'm carrying a Stretch VG-10 and my backup is a Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189. There is also a Ladybug on my keychain. Normally I carry an Endura 4 ZDP but I decided to switch for today.

I generally rotate between a pure vanilla Delica 4 (saber grind PE, satin finish, VG-10, black FRN handle) and a Stretch 2 FRN (VG-10, plain edge) for daily carry. Additionally, I always have my Victorinox Cadet for smaller tasks and use around knife-unfriendly folks; I guess that constitutes my "backup". I also keep an orange Assist in my backpack, just in case.

The Ayoob: The ultimate EDC

Post by JD Spydo »

Hey Doc!! Needless to say you have excellent taste especially with that Spyderedged Ayoob model and that original VG-10 blue PE Spyderhawk. Those are 2 that I consider utmost security blades in my own back up footlocker.

Both out of Spyderco's Golden Era 1998 -2003 IMO.

Currently I'm carrying my C-44 big Dyad, G-10 Harpy and ZDP Caly Jr. But that's subject to change on a daily basis. If I get in more of a self defense mode my C-60 Ayoob SE comes out of the footlocker quickly as well as my C-46 Lum Tanto folder and the C-111 Captain if things get really bad.

OH yes I do have a couple of fixed blades I like for EDC and SD both. They are the original Temperance 1 model ( PE or SE) and the Streetbeat.

My holy grail, most desired Spyder to get for EDC is to get back an original C-54 big Calypso model. Most any Spyder can be used for essential EDC purposes.

Don't mess with the Spyder because you think you're fly.

Today, had my Millie on the right side and my OKC Rat3 on my left.

Used the Millie to cut some carrots and beet at the market. Did not go well with a couple of ladies who saw me take out and open the knife. I got a few dissapproving looks.

I carry my Military at random with a variety of knives from various makers with no set rotation. I do prefer the Military as a additional knife due to its light weight for its size when I want a second large knife with me.

I thought about it and I never carry a backup EDC knife. If I carry more than one (most of the time) I carry them for different purposes. Jester always as it is attached to my small light so I always have these. Then a Chaparall or Sage1 and maybe a Manix2 or GB. So, as one may be a backup in case I loose or break one   they are mainly for differnt type of chores.

Must say I usually try and stay lite. :) Always in the front right pocket the Para 2. In the right rear pocket, the Military. IWB the Sage 1. The left front pocket gets the GB or the Manix and the left rear pocket gets the cf Stretch. For a necker I have the Delica in a kydex sheath. On the keychain goes the Ladybug......... I forgot, on the belt left side, goes the Aqua salt and on the right belt side the Temp 2. I have a special ankle holster for my Citadel. I guess that just about covers it for the lite carry days. :D I can't wait for the cold weather when jackets are worn.

Kidding aside, Para 2 when not at work with either Sage 1, Delica, or Caly 3 at work. I will also carry the Dragonfly IWB, it disappears.
