How many of you guys use PayPal and purchase online. I just signed up and made an purchase and am a little nervous. I am pretty new to buying online. Is PayPal pretty safe?

I've used it a number of times with no problem so far. Most of my purchases are with one dealer who is well know to the members of this Forum - glasshartt.

I've been using PayPal for a couple years as both a buyer and a seller, and I love it. Instant money. No problems whatsoever.

Be careful when receiving money with PayPal. I learned the hard way. Someone paid me for an auction through PayPal and they used a credit card to provide the funds. When I got the email that said "you have money" I clicked on the link and they said I couldn't get my money until I upgraded to some kind of premium membership.

Anyways, not fully understanding what I was getting into, I upgraded my membership. Now EVERY SINGLE TIME I GET MONEY (no matter how they finance it) PayPal takes take 3% off the top and I can't revert back to the free membership.

Make it very clear when you are holding an Ebay auction that you DON'T honor credit card based PayPal.

On the contrary, I make it a policy when I auction items on eBay that I do not charge extra fees of ANY kind, either for PayPal charges or for "handling." If a buyer wishes to pay me with PayPal, I happily accept it with no backcharges.

It's part of the cost of doing business, and as I buyer I resent it when a seller carps and moans about every little cost. Just build it into your price structure and be done with it.

Zrexxer, amen!

Others, PayPal is a business. The purpose of a business is to make $. If everything was free, they wouldn't be able to make $. BTW, part of that CC fee is going back to the card company.

Exactly, Pachucko... when you go to Best Buy and plop your VISA card down to buy a new hard drive you can be sure they get charged by the credit card company, but they don't say, "Oh that will be extra, we're going to charge you the credit card fees..."
