Hello all, now that the 80 available seats have been filled, the registration will continue for a place on the waitinglist for a few days (see the Moderators post above).
CHIBBI & others; as strange as it may sound, please don't bring any presents for Sal, Gayle and Eric. Coming to Amsterdam and doing the Spyderco meet is for them the start of a long and tiring business trip of 14+ days. Airlines allow only limited luggage these days and they have their suitcases already filled with what they need during this long trip. Please bear with them, and do not bring presents. Instead, I am sure that they will appreciate the feedback and the talks we will have at the show and a personal e-mail or post on the Forum about how much you liked the show, when they return home. Thanks for your valued attention. Needless to say that I am also thrilled to meet you all!
Cheers, Jurphaas.

Any sign ups from this point forward will be added to a waiting list and will be contacted in the event that someone from the first 80 is unable to attend.

Thanks everyone for your interest in Spyderco!
I have not received a confirmation email. However, my girlfriend, who signed up a few hours AFTER I did, did receive confirmation. What went wrong?

I think the Spyderco crew is sound asleep after their New Year celebrations, so I suggest you wait till monday evening (dutch time) before getting worried.

Wel, you are not the only one! At this side the same story. I believe that something went wrong by sending the confirmation Emails to our adress. In that case we are still standing on the presentation list for that day. Lets give them some more time to check this out. An empty chair is not what they want to see that day therefore hopefuly the presentationlist will be checked once again. Let's waith some more days so they can check out and tell us that we are still welcome! Good luck.

I have a question on the members from Germany and Netherlands. Are there any knife carry restrictions in your countries??? I'm going to travel on Spyderco Amsterdam Meet and I want to avoid problems.Thank you.

From what I know germany is really strict on knives.. I sadly don't know any details on that.

Netherlands, not so much.. anything double edged [including saw teeth on the spine], switchblades, balisongs and autos are banned..

[single edge] folding knives up to 28cm total length and [small?] fixed blades are legal to carry.

I know I'm not a 100% correct on this, so please correct me on my mistakes..

If you're sticking to german legislation, you're mostly safe in the Netherlands. Dutch knife laws are not as strict as the german laws. When in doubt, carry a slipit.

The german knife law is somewhat complicated, but you're not allowed to carry in public:
- a one-handed opening folder with a locking mechanism
- a fixed knife with a bladelength >12cm

So, any slipit is fine, that's why the UKPKs are so popular in germany.

it seems that this year I can't come because the registration is full. I'm sad because I was very pleased to meet the Spyderco team last year.

Since both are locking AND one-hand opening they're illegal for EDC in Germany,,, I don't know if they make a difference for carry in the pocket or in a bag,,,

ps: you're good for the Netherlands however,,,

That should be fine. The described knives are not illegal in germany, you can possess them, but you are officially not allowed to carry them in public.
I personally never had problems with a delica, caly jr. or the one of the sages, even a stretch was ok. The endura or a millie would probably be too much.

Thank you for your help. I don't want to break the law. I will put them in the box and keep them in my bag. I'm not going to use them in Germany, but I can't come to Spyderco Meet without my Spydies.
