Mini Dyad Jr.

#1

Post by Tay7118 »

Is there a model called the Mini Dyad Jr. If so I think I picked one up the other day. It is only 3 inches closed and the handle appears to be possibly carbon fiber. Can anyone tell me when this model was produced.

Thanks,

There is indeed a Dyad Jr. Don't believe that there is a 'mini' Dyad Jr.
3" closed sounds like the size of a Dyad Jr. to me.
Your handles are probably Micarta. Don't know any dates. Probably Vampyrewolf can fill you in on that?

ok, history lesson:
First year in my books: 97

1998: C39 Dyad jr, changed to ATS-55

(1999: not in my materials)

2000: C39PSBK Dyad Jr lt, FRN, ATS-55, 2.125" PE, 2 3/16" SE, no clip, 1.5oz

2001: both blades 2.25"

I've looked at the C39 a few time myself. I actually get a "refund" on taxes, and I'm picking up either a Kiwi or Dyad jr with it.

The C39 Dyad jnr is one of my favs and EDC'd the Micarta model till it went walkies!, yep lost it...but I got another!, one of the last Hamonoichiba had in stock. If you come across one, get it, as it has the 'best of both worlds' PE & SE blades and fit's the hand with suprising comfort.

There are four basic Dyad models.

The C44 Dyad - it had Micarta handles and a pocket clip and is the largeest of the Dyad models

The C39 Dyad originally called the Mini-Dyad and made with Micarta handles and a pocket clip.

The FRN version of the C39 Dyad, called the Dyad Jr. It was about the same size as the Mini_Dyad, but thiner, and had an FRN handle and no clip. Most of the handles were black, but smaller numbers were made in burgundy and teal.

The C112 Micro Dyad, smallest of the family, has steel bolsters at both ends. Last years version had jigged bone handles, this years (not yet available) will feature black pearl.

Here's a shot of all of the ones so far...
