I got one of those when they were first released. They were released in two waves based on first ordered, first recieved from bento box. I was in the second wave. The waiting for the initial release was bad enough but the two week wait for shipment on the second wave with my knife was especially traumatic. Since then I have come to truely love this knife. Even though it was expensive (in my world) I use it for as hard use as I need. It's a great knife. I hope you like yours as much. Happy holidays.G10KnifeNut wrote:Since I JUST received this in the mail yesterday... M4 Manix 2 gets my vote :D :D Beautiful! Your fingers just stick to the g10, feels amazing in your hand, and its smooth as glass opening up!! :) I seriously cannot get over how smooth it opens!!

I'm glad to read this thread. My only Spydie is the Caly3, and I'm ready to buy a good folder where the blade will stay sharp FOREVER. I'm not good at sharpening. Perhaps ZDP, Stellite, whatever. I like the Caly3 design, and I've liked the Sage in the past, although never owned one. I don't mind spending $200 for a good knife. I only get about one more in this life; not getting any younger.
Haven't looked at the Chaparral or the others you guys talked about, but I will soon. Thanks.

About 6 years ago I decided to break down and start shopping for a knife that would stay sharp for a long time. I've carried a pocketknife all the time since I was a kid never paying more than $20 for one. I now have had and still have knives that keep an edge for a very long time compared to what I used to use. But, sharpening skills, even just basic skills are necessary. So, you may want to consider around $50 or so for sharpening tools. Then again you may already own what you need. But, I remember when I started looking for better knives my only real goal was one that would stay sharp. What I found is no matter what you get it will need to be touched up every so often. If you KEEP it shart with frequent honings (touch-ups) you won't need to know a lot about the more complex sharpening details.Sonny wrote:I'm glad to read this thread. I have a Chaparral and Sage1 and both are great knives. If I were to only have one knife it would be the Sage1 because it's a little larger and stronger. The Chaparral is a great gentlemen's folder. So, what you use a pocket knife for most of the time is something to consider. For me, two knives are needed to be prepared for what I may come across. If you work in an office all day the Chaparral would be perfect. I don't work anymore so I carry a Chaparral and Manix2 for example because I may need to cut a string or small tree limb. Both the Chaparral and Sage1 have CPM-S30V steel blades. This is really good steel and one of my favorites. Another favorite of mine is CPM-M4. I like M4 better than S30V but if I liked a knife and the knife had either steel I'd buy it. I've gotten a little off track. All I really wanted to say is to KEEP a knife sharp will make owning a SHARP knife much easier than letting it get pretty dull before trying to sharpen it.

I'm unsure when the GB was released. If it was in 2011 than this would get my vote.
If it was already out when the year changed to 2011 than I have to say the Caly 3.5 in Super Blue.
Both are solid winners and need no selling from me. I really don't want to have to pick from between the two as it would be painful.
I can't rightfully vote for a knife I haven't bought yet but the Native 5 looks awfully nice to me. Eventually it will be mine!
As far as sprints the selection was too much for me to pick one. We had some that will be talked about, sought after and used for years. All in all it was an excellent year!
