:eek: Dude you need to tell me how to do this because I have the Manix2 and I have a tough time enjoying the ball lock. I guess i need to get used to it but that ball lock is not easy to manipulate for me at least.

Start with pinching the CBBL between thumb and index finger. Squeeze and the blade gets loose (if not your pivot may be tight or dirty) - after some practice you can use other fingers (I can open it with 3 single fingers or a few combos of 2)

I hated the ball lock myself, but after countless hours of playing with my manix 2 i have finally got the lock loose enough to do what EvilD is talking about. Just keep on playing with it and eventually it will loosen up, and when it does OH MAN is it fun to play with!

Also how i started it but i also had thumb and index finger on the lock and had my other 3 fingers against the clip to brace , as the lock is kinda tuff at first

I usually carry a Delica in my front pocket so it gets the most "fondling". Such as when I'm on the elevator of my apt. building. If no one else is on I practice opening and closing until the elevator stops.

I got rid of my Manix2 because it was too difficult for me to close. I wonder if jamming the lock release open with something and letting it sit that way (with the spring compressed) for a length of time would have done the trick.

It could have f1, I know it took me a couple of months and alot of playing to get mine where i could unlock with 1 finger

Yeah, it's fun enough that this thread has me tempted to buy another Manix 2 in FFG. When i had mine it got to the point that i literally never touched the blade when using it...just flipped out the knife, cut, and flipped it back shut. When you get it down it's so dang fast and convenient it's almost as quick as a fixed blade.


Oh, and i guess i was just lucky because mine was smooth and worked like this right out of the box. I seem to have pretty good luck with choosing knives that are smooth out of the box. OR maybe another logical explanation is that i buy them from my local knife shop, and they've been fondled out of the showcase enough that they're already broken in? I dunno...my Para 2 came out of the back of the shop though and had never been handled.

Used to do this with my Gayle Bradley a lot until I got careless closing it and sliced the end of my thumb open because I didn't get it out of the way quick enough. Now I stick to flicking the Para2, Sage 3, Manix 2, or something with an axis lock - much safer for boneheads like me.

Might be heresy 'round these parts, but I find the Axis Lock makes my BM Sequel most fun to play with. I also like to pinch the Spydie hole of a D4 between my thumb and middle finger and spin the closed knife (I have large hands).

I spend more time fondling my Ladybug than any other knife....I can put it in my hand while shopping, (well I'm a guy so I really don't shop) so let me redefine that as...Being dragged against my will from department to department from rack to rack and shelf to shelf....I got something to do, open and close, run my thumb over the serrations, and open and close and repeat repetitively.....LOL....Doc :)

how long did you give it opening and closing it a bunch of times? mine was stiff when i first got it, but after a week it is perfect :D

Lum Tanto or Emerson CQC7. It could be that there both my newest knives but I seem to be handling them the most. I like opening my Lum with the middle finger flip so that's currently entertaining me. I'm trying to break in the Emerson so that's the excuse there although I do like the feel of that knife in my hand so I toy with it flipping from forward to reverse grip.
