Zero Tolerance Opinions/Comparisons??

#1

Post by Vicinadp »

Ive been looking for a decent sized ti folder that doesnt break the bank. Ive seen the ZT 350 and its about 110ish on most sites I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on it and what it could compare to any spydies. To me it seems to be a very robust looking knife with a very deep bellied blade.

You can check out Sage Titanium. You can find it for around $150, give or take. IMO, you can't go wrong with the Sage line. Ergos, design and materials are great. I'm flicking my CF as I'm writing this.

If your budget is $200, you can look into Ti Millie. I believe you can find them for about $230. But what a knife :D
The thing is you will have to wait on this beauty to come out, and I'm not sure when it will happen.

I have a Sage 2 But I meant more of a bigger tactical folder. But I forgot that millie made a titanium frame. I own the sage 1, 2, and three great knives, sage 1 prob being the most fun to play with. I think the millie would be better than the zt because of weight, length and personally I would prefer a Spydie to ZT.

The ZT300 is a tank. Big blade with a recurve, well made.
Spyderco really doesn't make anything comparable to it.
ZT makes good stuff, excellent quality and value.
I say go for it.

While it's true that Spyderco probably doesn't have a model that compares point-by-point, I think that the Gayle Bradley (but it isn't Ti, if that's what you have to have) will do just about anything the ZT 300 will do except pull your pants down.

I've had a GB and a ZT 350. The ZT is built well enough, but to me, it's a brick with far worse ergos in hand than any Spyderco I've ever tried.

But if that's what yer dreamin' about, probably nothing else will do.

Isn't the LionSpy comparable to it?

Agree!

I'd also say the C95 was comparable but it's dc'd.

Hate saying it but this thread is totally off-topic. It should be moved or deleted.

I agree, Blerv.

The only other thing I would add is that the recurve on the ZT would require a little extra care in sharpening than the Spyderco models we've mentioned. Personally, I'm not a big fan of recurve blades...

Not sure but I think the 350 is not Ti. The liner lock is ss.

If you must go with a large ti, the 0550 is lighter than the 0300, and much better looking $200.- bucks.

greetings,
even though this is a spyderco forum, i'll have to comment on the ZT line. they are what they are. an extremely well built, solid piece of cutlery. having owned [and still do] the 0200, 0300, 0301, 0302 0400 and 0350, i will say if a heavy tank of a knife is what you're looking for, you will not be disappointed. never saw one that didn't have, IMHO, excellent fit-finish. if i had to voice one minor complaint, they are HEAVY, but that makes them what they are - solid and **** near indestructable with reasonable use. one of my favorite makers. hope this helps.

The Ti Mil with steel insert will get you close as far as the framelocks go. But the blade, well that's another story.
