Hello from louisiana
Just wanted to say hi to everyone out there. I have just gotten into knives in the past year and have gravitated towards spydercos for obvious reasons. I came here mainly to ask some questions about using the sharpmaker and try and find some older models that caught my eye.
I would like to list my spydercos in order of purchase
delica 4 ffg in blue
endura 4 ffg grey that I dyed to OD green
PM2 digicam satin
Thanks for having me guys.

Welcome to the Forum, puffulufogous!
If you just started "getting into knives," you've definately come to the right place. :)
As for info on using the Sharpmaker: there is an informational CD/DVD available (featuring Mr. Sal Glesser himself) demonstrating its various functions and how it works.
Are the models you listed the models you are currently looking for or the models that you already own? As for finding older Spyderco models, your best bet would probably be e-Bay.
Welcome and enjoy!

The older Meerkat models are getting pretty tough to find these days, unfortunately. I have seen them sell on e-Bay from $65 to $150. As you mentioned, the 2012 sprint run in burgundy may be your best bet. (As long as you're not opposed to waiting for a while).
Try e-Bay. You'll be surprised what you'll find.
Good luck!

Welcome, puff, you have a great set already and I have a feeling that the collection is going to grow quickly. I watch the Sharpmaker DVD everyonce in a while just for teh heck of it. If you follow Sal's instructions and develop teh muscle memory, is is fairly easy to get a great edge on your knives. The main thing that I have found is to not let then get too dull. The diamond stones work great for this and the ultra fine ones are sweet to have to get a deeper cut on your finger.

rg02,
I bought a grey FRN endura 4 and used the rit "sunshine orange" dye in the powder form. Initially I had hoped to make it a darker orange. This was before I found out that they were making orange a standard color for the delica and endura 4s. I am terrible at using a color wheel. You can imagine my surprise when I washed it off and it was OD green. I was pleasantly surprised :D
