DRKBC,

The overall length is not too bad, but the head is pretty big though. Some people may find it rather large, but it comes with a holster, so it does not bother me. I like that it fills my hand and I get excellent purchase of the light. It is a bit heavy on the forward end, but that is to be expected because of the Cree XML.

For me, the light is a bit too big to carry in my pocket, I normally wear 511 type pants. I have a couple of the double AA type tac lights that fit better in the pocket. I wore it today though, on my belt, just doing stuff around the house and no big deal. Overall, I love it and it is a part of the EDC rotation now.

The light is next to a Millie and a Fenix E21, which is a double AA light.

Big heads are pretty necessary for a thrower but do limit your comfort. Personally, once the OD gets much more than an inch (P60 is about my limit) it graduates out of the pants pocket to a coat.

Nice purchase :) . It's a very solid light and XM-L's rawk!

Spyderkoholic,

Thanks for the picture and the size comparison. From what I can see I think it will work out well for me. We live in BC so its pretty much always going to be in a coat pocket. But after looking at your photo ... I can see how a second smaller one would be very handy to have. Can't wait to see it, its a Christmas present so for now all I can do is hover around the tree.

I have two basic Energizer flashlights. One is a wearable LED head lamp. Other is a larger flashlight. These remain at office in case of a building fire. Dont get to use them much and hope I never do.

I always have a Mini Maglight in my bag but only use it at night mainly. There is a back up Mini Maglight at home. Love the option to have it stand lit up like a candle.

I have ordered a Fenix PD32 yesterday from KnifeCentre. That will be my main flashlight once I get it.

My EDC flashlight is a led lenser P5. It's has a superb quality and is trustworthy. It is small, light and strong. It needs a AA battery so that's easy. I strongly recommend this flashlight!

Finally broke down and upgraded my dog-walking flashlight to a Fenix TK-11 a few weeks ago. It has almost all the features I considered important. It's a decent hand-filling size, capable of using either a rechargeable 18650 battery or two CR123A's, and not overly complicated. It's also a good bit brighter than my Streamlight on the 60 lumen setting, but not excessively so. It does use a tail cap switch, rather than a body mounted one, but it's considerably easier to operate than tail cap switches I've used before. Brightness is "set and forget" at the front bezel and the tail cap switch is a simple on/off, so I don't have to cycle through settings every time I turn it on.

I carry one everyday on my keychain. Its a So-LED from County Comm. I took the clip off and attached it to my keychain. I use it mostly to make sure I don't step in dog crap on my way to the car in the morning before work.

Otherwise, if I know I'm going to be needing a torch, I bring a Fenix LD20.

Picked up a Lumapower IncenDio V3 flashlight yesterday from the customs office. Ordered it directly in Hongkong, it came with free shipping (!), but without a battery. Came without a bill too, luckily I took the e-mail with the purchase confirmation and the Paypal statement with me.

Neat little light, 3 1/8 in. (79mm) long, 4 levels of brightness: 5%, 15%, 40% 100%. No strobe, beacon or SOS modes. Runs on CR123 or 16340, presumably also on IMR16340 cells. Clipped to my pocket, I hardly notice it.
Has a GITD tailcap button.

Max. 350 lumens with a 16340, according to the fact sheet, 200 lm with a CR123.

3 surefire models on sale & 20% extra off today only (12/26)

#94

Post by nuubee »

For those of you who would like a Surefire, but were always put off by the prices, the http://www.scoutstuff.org website is having a sale on 3 of the discontinued models, plus an extra 20% off today only (12/26), using the code: EXTRA20. The 6P is going for $24.98 (without the code), the tan G2 is $14.98 (before code), and the tan G2L (with the aluminum bezel) is $19.98 (before code). What you save on the extra 20% off you will pretty much even back out with the cheapest shipping option of $7.50, but this is still a great buy. I actually prefer these discontinued models because they don't have the new sealed heads. Using the promo code is a little bit tricky. Place everything you want in your cart, then 'review' the order, enter the code, then continue.

Please don't post this on slickdeals.net, so someone doesn't swoop in, buy up all the inventory, and then re-sell them on the bay. I'm hoping some of my Surefire-less brethren-and-sistren here will have a first-time opportunity to own a Surefire.

Even though they are discontinued, they will still have the lifetime warranty from Surefire.

I have no connection with the sellers offering this deal. If this was somehow an inappropriate post, please let me know.

Spyderkoholic,

Got the TK21 and took it out last night when I was walking my dog. I put it on max overlooking an Orchard near my house and holly crap it was like daylight the whole area was lit up, it was shocking, I really wasn't expecting that much power from such a compact light.
The size is great and the spread on the settings is great although it might be nice to something between 1 and 2 cause 2 is still pretty bright and 1 not so much. Also it would be nice is to be able to go down as well as up on the power button so you didn't have to cycle it through all the modes to drop down a level. But that's all nit picking, I am extremely happy with it compact, sturdy, powerful light with great throw and a nice wide beam.

nitecore d11 v2 single aa. infinite light beam, click it on hold the button up or down till you have the brightness you want and release,it will stay at that setting till it's reset to whatever brightness you want .max lumins is 145. i also have a zebra light h51 single aa side beam for wearing with the headstrap for blowing snow, and a fenix e21 and ld 20 which are both double aa. the e21 i like because it's got a momentary on switch, the ld 20 does not but you can untwist the cap 1 turn and it will function as a momentary on flashlight.

DRKBC,

Glad to hear you like the Fenix TK-21! I showed Dirty Snipe the light on Christmas and he was pretty impressed with it as well. Awesome light to take away the darkness. :D

Slightly off topic, but is there a flashlight that can run on one, or two AAs? I want something for EDC, but also want something stronger for camping. Does something like this exist?
