Would this bother you?

I realize this is a matter of personal preference, but I'm just looking for thoughts. I also realize that this isn't a custom knife, and isn't going to be perfect. That said, would this gap bother you guys? It really stands out because the rest of the f&f is dead on.

Yup. I don't expect perfection...but I expect the F&F to be pretty **** good. Spyderco typically sets the bar pretty high for the overall fit and finish and I tend to hold them to that.
There are things that I will ignore, slightly off center blade, slightly off center grind, slightly off center bevels, And I can deal with some cosmetic flaws...my 20cp Para2 has some pretty ugly spots on the G-10. But stuff like that, I expect to have and be within pretty close tolerances.

My OCD would never let me forget it's there, but things like that I learn to deal with...lol

I agree w/ DBSS. It would bother me as well. Once you know it's there, you can not un-see it and every time you go to use that knife, your attention would be drawn to that flaw.

So, you gonna let us know what model that is :D ? I was thinking Native 5, but the black clip threw me off, but then I noticed on the table in the background is a silver clip w/screws, so I'm thinking you just changed it,maybe ?
Anyway, yeah, that would annoy me,as well. If the rest is OK, I'd be torn between the PITA of sending it back, against the years of irritation everytime I looked at it. Tough call.

I own a few Spydercos, but have never had to use their warranty. Is this something that I would send in, and they would fix?

Lol, yeah, sorry. It's a Native 5 that I bought at a knife show today. I swear I looked it over, but I didn't notice this until I got home. As for the clip, I tried a black Endura clip on it, but I didn't like it. Something about the glossy black clip against the flat black G-10 just didn't work for me.

It would irk me a little bit but I can live with it. As long as the flaw does not affect ergonomics nor performance. I would use that knife hard so you learn to ignore that blemish and enjoy it.

I agree with many of the comments posted here...
While I might "think" about it for a little, it wont make me loose sleep over it.

I can't see how it would affect performance, but it would annoy me. That said, I'd guess that if you sent it back to W/R they would say it is "within Spec" and just send it back. Had a similar thing happen to me with some minor blade wobble (while closed) on a Manix2. I'd love to blow smoke and say they would replace it, no questions asked, but my bet would be they will not, , ,but I could be wrong.

Probably not but maybe it's worse in person. Can you slide anything into it? I mean, like paper or do you think moisture could?

I had a better warranty experience. I had a phoenix that didn't align very well where the back lock met the blade. I am sure it might not have bothered anyone else but it bothered me. After a couple of months of use I sent a picture to Spyderco. They agreed with me and said they would like to fix the problem but the knife was out of prodcution so they offered to replace the knife retail to retail with another knife and I took them up on there offer. They coudn't have handled the situation better in my eyes.

If I got it in the mail, it might bother me. But if I picked it out in a store, and it looked good enough for me to buy... then I'd just deal with it, and have no fear of using it hard and getting it dirty. I guess the real question is, how does it cut?

I probably wouldn't even notice it. Off center blades and blade play do bother me no end.

As a knife user more than an enthusiest or collector it wouldn't bother me. I have a Sebenza that has a 1/8" difference in the hallow grind toward the tip. Unless it was falling apart or not cutting I wouldn't let it upset me.

I'm a bit OCD too and know what you're feeling. Things like that tend to bother me as well when I get them, but after I use a knife enough, I tend to forget about such things and just enjoy the heck out of how well they fit into my hand and cut stuff apart.

Very minor imperfection. Has no effect on anything.
