I've been practicing this a little bit...and i've got to the point i can do it just as fast now with my ring finger, but i sort of cheat...i have the clip on for tip up carry right now, and i use my thumb at the bottom of the clip and basically press the handle upwards while my ring finger presses downwards on the hole. It snaps open super fast this way, but my grip isn't "just right" once deployed because i have to grip close down to the pivot in order to have enough range of motion from my ring finger.

Are you practicing with the navaja? I saw this and am dying to try it out, but I do not have a navaja. So I guess it should work best with any liner or framelock knife, right? I would think that the tension of the lock back would be a problem.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
The Navaja has a great opening action for quick deployment. I find it easier to manipulate than most liner locks. Had good results with the Tenacious as well.

No i'm using my Para 2. The only issue i have is the tip of my ring finger isn't as rough and seasoned as my thumb so the sharp edge of the hole is really wrecking my finger.
Stallone also says to the guy before all the knife and gun stuff........."your the disease and I'm the cure". gotta love it!! i practice opening my liner locks with a reverse grip in my left and the flip it to regular grip. just for an option if needed.
Well, i'm proud to say that after lots of practice, i have this little move down to a science now. In fact i'd say i can deploy the blade faster in reverse grip with my ring finger than i can with my thumb if you can believe that. Unfortunately my left had is too retarded to learn that kind of dexterity.

I have been practicing this move for quite some time too. I can open my lockbacks (delica4, endura1, caracara) confidently with either hand. I am charing this not to brag, but to encourage those who are new to this.
So, no excuses, just practice...
