Here's my take on it.
Got mine a few days ago. Mine was stiff too when opening, but after flicking it, it got better. The opening hole was sanded waaaay too smooth, I couldn't get a grip, you know what i mean. Had to use a small round diamond file to make the hole sharp again.
Then I decided to take it apart, (avoiding warranty, yes i know. I do take many of my users apart, just for the heck of it, and to polish the moving parts etc. So far I've got them all back together, and fully functional too :D . ), to see if there was something wrong with it. Nope, nothing wrong. I guess the stiffness has something to do with the self-closing feature, the backspring is really heavy duty, and it's a bit different than say on a Delica. Also, there was plenty, and I mean plenty of lube used from the factory. I guess they've noticed the stiffness too.
As I had the knife all butchered, I took the time and polished every part that I could see making a difference, and put it back together. It opens and closes smoothly now, but it still is by no means a light flicker.
All and all, I like the Native 5; small, and plenty strong. Hefty. Me likey.
anyways, here's some pics for your viewing pleasure, I olny had my mobile phone at hand so the pics are bit crappy. But at least you can see the inners of the thing, without having to butcher yours
