spydercutter

I don't know whether or not anyone here likes cigars, but I do. One of the pieces of equipment cigar smokers need is a cutter. Right now I have a xikar, it works well and makes a nice clean cut. I would like to see spyderco make a cutter. There aren't any cigar cutters out there with anything approaching the quality spyderco is capable of producing or using the steels spyderco uses. A nice vg10 bladed cutter would be great.

Do you think there is really a market for it.
And if so how much would you give up for one?

I do think there is a market. I would be willing to pay $50, maybe more depending on materials.

The issue i have with the al mar is that it is a single blade that can easily crush a cigar. One of the other drawbacks with that design is that it only works fair with cigars of approximatley the same ring gauge as the hole in the handle.

I too have a Xicar3mm cutter. Xicar has suspended the manufacture of the Xicar3mm because of the mold injection process and excessive cost to produce. This cutter was their only one made with the 440 steel in Germany. Very nice cutter with a sleek hi-tech look. But I would love for Spyderco to produce one and would be one of the first ones in line to buy it. Xicars list from $40 to $80 but I read where they have sold 13,000 so far so I think that Spderco should at least consider the possibilities.

I am glad I am not the only one here that thinks it is a good idea. So are there any other cigar smokers here?

Occasional, had a Romeo and Julieta a few months ago. Not a regular cigar aficionado but I do enjoy them from time to time.

Cool idea Marauder - I am only an occaisional Cigar smoker - but I would buy a Spydie cutter in a heart beat - even if it would only be used a couple dozen times a year. Of course cigar smoking often tends to be a group activity, so it would probably make a few more than a dozen cuts a year

I'm personally a fan of Arturo Fuentes. Especially the cedar-wrapped Chateau Fuentes, but I'll smoke anything he makes, from a Curlyhead to an 8-5-8

Just FYI for you cigar folks. Got a Thompson & Co (http://secure.thompsoncigar.com/default.aspx) catalog in the mail today. Just flipped through for S&G's and I saw they're selling those Xikar cutters two for $49. Y'all might like their site as well.

If there´s a market for the Ulu, there´s a market for a cigar cutter!
