A new hat please. Baseball Cap Style.

#1

Post by BAL »

I see that Minibear made a thread about a new shirt design. I would like to see a new Hat design. I like the regular baseball style caps, or as we call them up in sticks where live, just a hat. When someone says hat they are talking about the same kind, there is only one. Everyone wears a hat and most people I know have a huge collection, so I know a baseball style spyderco hat would be popular. I must have several hundred hats with logos showing the things that I like most, Chevy, Mizzou, NRA, Wrangler, John Deere, Stihl, Rocky, Merrell, etc. etc. I would love to add several Spyderco's to my collection. I would get one of every color and or design and I am sure that I am not alone. You could have just the Spyderco logo for starters and then follow with ones sporting different knives. A Camo Military hat, a toxic green Catherman, a pink Native for the ladies and so on.

I asked one of the girls (Rachel, I believe. Very nice person) at the Mothership in Golden this summer about this and she said that they were busy trying to keep up with the knifes that we all on this forum keep bugging them about.

Anyway, just another thing to throw in the request hopper. If others feel the same, maybe throw in a line or two, some of my Chevy hats are getting worn out.

Thanks for the input BAL. To be honest, we did have baseball caps at one time and unfortunately they weren't that popular. That's not to say we wouldn't consider it again, but Rachel was very accurate in saying our focus is the knives. We are listening though and we do talk about apparel items, but I'm afraid on the list of priorities and with limited staff, the knives win out.

Believe it or not, we discuss apparel much the same way that we do knives. We actually evaluate our options (testing samples and lots of them) and unfortunately that takes time. We're not willing to throw our logo on just anything. Even though we know ya'll would probably be interested, ultimately we want to offer something of quality and value to you.

Keep giving us feedback and requests though. ;)

Thanks for the prompt update Kristi, I (and all of us) appreciate it very much. I realize that there is much more that goes into Spyderco Management than one could imagine and priorities need to be addressed accordingly.

I do want to reiterate how much we appreciate the way that you, Sal, Eric and the entire Spyderco family takes the time to read and answer feedback from those of us with huge knife issues. Spyderco is the only company that I am aware of that has such hands-on association with its customers. It makes me proud just to be associated, even in such a small way. This is one reason that Spyderco has such a faithful following.

One other suggestion though, pehaps a support group for the spouses of those of us with the "knife issues". It's not really an issue or problem though, I can quit buying knives any time I want. ;)

(Also, pass along my thanks to Rachel who (back in mid-July) helped me pick out a Camo Para2 and for taking the time to show my 12 year old son EVERY knife in the lineup, before he finally decided to get the the DragonFly Frn PE. You would have thought that he was taking a Math test the way that he labored over which knife to get. It was his first knife and Dad was very proud to get it for him. He said that one day he will pass it on to his first son)

An option that might be worth looking into would be to design the artwork for the hats and make them available through an outfit like Zazzle. While I'd guess there's less profit that way, there's no risk and no work at Spyderco's end once the hat is designed and the webpage created. They do mugs and other things as well.

I have yet to get a Spyderco hat but I have worn the military style hats for a few years and love them. They don't tend to fall off my head on windy days. I do plan on getting one .

I would really like the existing hat...but with a solid back. I hate that big gap in the back, and it's the only thing stopping me from getting one. They make adjustable ones that have a solid back, they are much nicer.

I'd like to see a Flexfit brand Spyderco baseball cap. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Apparently a have/am a fat head. The one size fits all hats do not fit me.

I'd like be able to buy an iron on patch so that I can buy a fitted hat separately.

add-> size 7 7/8

What about Fitted hats? New Era makes em for about $30 our price. Idk if Spyderco would have to make a massive order though, wouldn't wanna put them in a position of losing $$. Plus fitted hats imo are better than the Flexfit, 3 sizes fit all.

Baseball style hat either the flex fit style or velcro strapping in the back.

Black hat
Red Spyderco Logo that says Spyderco underneath it(As some people don't know what the red Spyder is).
On the back velcro strap should say Spyderco

There is my perfect Spyderco Hat, I'd buy at least one, and maybe two if there are different variations.

Some of the best value/quality hats I have ever seen from anyone, Ruger;

+1 Flexfit is to hats almost what Spyderco is to knives.

I do like the idea of a baseball style cap that breathes with perhaps a slightly larger brim. Would be nice if it had LED lights in it. I have one of these and it comes in very handy. I've seen these with 2, 3, and 4 lights built in.

Sorry Tdog, no lights for mine.

I'd really like the unstructured cap also regular bill size, NOT a trucker style.

Like this, non Oakie...
