Thanks to Spyderco MBC Students

#1

Post by Michael Janich »

I wanted to take a moment to say a big thanks to all the students of the recent Spyderco MBC Level 1 and 2 classes. Everyone trained hard and worked together to cover a huge amount of information in a very short two days. You all did great and I'm very grateful to you for your interest in MBC.

I'd also like to thank Sal, Gail, and Christina Glesser, Patti Rose, and the members of Spyderco's production shop for their outstanding support of the event. In addition to MBC training, students were treated to a tour of Spyderco's factory and a demonstration of knife assembly and finishing. On day two, Sal gave everyone a sneak peek at Spyderco's 2003 prototypes and concept knives -- the stuff that all the dealers won't see until next month at the SHOT show and most folks won't see until SHOT articles hit the magazines months from now!

Throughout the entire weekend, Gail, Patti, and Christina kept everyone fed, hydrated, and feeling welcome, making this one of the best MBC events to date.

Finally, I'd like to say a special thanks to my assistant instructor Mike Rigg, who filled in for Matt Zavakos on very short notice. Mike did a great job as "meat puppet" and helped make the instructional side of the class a great success.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped make this weekend possible.

Stay safe,

I'll second what Mike said--

It was fun to meet & work with everyone who attended the seminars. I hope you can make it back for levels 3 and 4 in the spring.

As for Spyderco's support, I've attended pretty much every MBC weekend out here for the past year and last weekend's edition was better- and more-professionally organized than ever. My thanks to the company staff involved. Keep up the good work!

And last, but not least, the instruction was phenomenal. Mike Janich is top-notch both in skill and in teaching ability (heck of a nice guy, too!). Matt Zavakos and Mike Rigg are excellent players with overflowing generosity in sharing what they know and superhuman patience with those of us who don't always pick up on it right away.

Cheers,
Vince

Make that three..

It was a great weekend, even if I am a bit sore.
What a great group of people to train with. Thanks to everyone for their patience and acceptance.

I hope everyone will be able to attend the level 3&4 classes in May. Matt Z will be handling the “special requests” for those classes, I will warn him about Jade.

Many thanks to Gail, Sal and the rest of the Spyderco crew who gave their time and energy, you really made it an extra special weekend

Last of all, to Mike Janich, it is an honor and a privilege to train with you. Thank you for your support, confidence and kindness.

Oops. I almost forgot. They’re here! I’ve got one, and it is good. What you say? The Ronins of course

Take care,

Mike Janich (and Mike Rigg), thank you for a wonderful weekend. I enjoyed it greatly and plan on doing it again in July (levels 3&4). Until I see you again, take care of yourself and stay safe.

Mike J.,
Thanks for a weekend of great training. I was thoroughly impressed with your class instruction, the others taking the class, and the folks at Spyderco. Special thanks to Mike R., Gail and Sal. To be made to feel so at home among such a fine group of people who are so dedicated to their craft is a rare treat. Kudos.
I am looking forward to the levels 3 and 4.

Best regards,
Dave T.

I'm thinking it'd be worth the price, just for the tour! One of these times I'm coming for the 1&2 at least... driving of course.

I want to thank you for the excellent training I received last weekend. It was the best martial arts training I have received in my 46 years of attending martial arts training. I feel confident that I have finally learned something practical that I can use effectively well into my old age. "God willing and the river don't rise," I will see you again in May for Levels 3 and 4. Than you again for a fun and constructive weekend. Clyde
