How many favorite Spyderco's do you have?
How many favorite Spyderco's do you have?
I got looking at the different Spydie's I have an tried to honestly detemine which is my favorite? After openiing and closing many knives, I finally came to the conclusion that every one is a favorite. Just tooooo fine. The Delica is delightful, the Para 2 is perfect, the Caly is incredible, the H-1's are a marvel. I truly love the positive sound of the blades when they lock.
Thank you Spyderco and all that work to make this possible.

I like a lot of Spydercos, but my favorites are the Kiwi, Stretch, Chaparral, and C83 Persian. So, four models, but a lot more knives since I have multiple specimens of each. I'm certain there will be a fifth as soon as the Mar/McBurnette lock version of the Sage is released and a sixth if the bolstered version of the Caly 3.5 ever makes it to market. :)

Recently I established 3 categories for my knives. So, when I say which is my favorite I will name 3 knives. Categories are EDC, dress and work knives.
EDC: Native
Dress: Sage1
Work: Manix2
I have a couple of CLOSE seconds but won't list them because this is a "what is your favorite" conversation. Of the 3 above my favorite is the Sage1 for these reasons, Brand new yesterday :D , easily replaces Native as EDC, I don't need a hard work knife as often as I do an EDC knife. I also use the categories when deciding on the next knife to get. I ask myself "Do I need a dress knife or a work knife?" Depending on the answer I then start shopping. Like 80% of the people on this forum I don't NEED another knife, but, well you know.

The everreturning question is there again. The 'momentary-check' which Spyders are favorite for the time the question was asked.
I like the concept of Jack that there isn't 'just a 1-2-3-list' but that there is a division in categories now like 'EDC, dress, work, garden, trip etc....'
Back to your question;
There are a few absolute favorite Spyders for me. First I am having 'a larger blade' period. I like my Gayle Bradleys (especially my custom one, which I recently stone-tumbled
), the Lil' Temp and most recently I tasted the PM2which is a wonderful knife. I like my Caly3,5 suitable for dress-occasions. Still have to get that wonderful grey-one in super blue.
I carry daily a GB, PM(2), Caly or sometimes a Millie. In the kitchen it is all Mules that rule and when I am surrounded in areas with lots of NKP I carry smaller and more innocent blades like the Bob T-slipit or a Ladybug.
I think I have had my Delica/Endura-period. Don't get me wrong, they are superb pocketknives. But once you have tasted the collaboration- and the fine inhouse-design-blades by Sal, Eric and others you are sold and bitten by the Spyder forever!

I'm still lamenting the loss of my Matriarch.razorback1595 wrote:... They are all great, except the civilian and matriarch(?) which can't be used easily on a daily basis. My 0.02$
I lost it to the TSA when I was forced to carry on my luggage when I was late for a flight.
I had carried the matriarch every day for more than a year, and although I was a little careful to not abuse the tip, I was pretty tough on the knife.
Favorites (following Jack's functional categorization):
EDC: Sage2
Dress: Chaparral
Hard-use: Manix2
European travel: Ti UKPK
NYC visits: Squeak (or any of the above if I'm feeling civilly disobedient)

Not one I don't like
I have always loved, admired and extolled things that are unique and high quality. Spyderco epitomizes uniqueness and their quality is impecable. If Spyderco doesn't have a model that you just absolutely adore then you are one very hard to please individual.
They truly have something for everyone's cutting needs. Just like prissy girls like designer jewelry and clothes>> I consider Spyderco's blades of designer quality.
Some of my most admired Spyders are my C-46 Lum Tanto folder, my SE Ayoob model, The JD Smith, The Chokwe, and all of my Spyderco Hawkbills which are the best in their genre with no close second.
My all time favorite Spyder is probably still my user C-44 big Dyad. It is truly a blade for all occasions and uses. Long live the Great Spyder Factory!!
