G10 Dragonfly just arrived!

It's awesome... :)

*tears of joy*

Okay, to pull myself together for a little review:

Very comfortable and secure grip for such a small knife, and it sits very nicely in the hand. The G10 and steel liners give it a bit of heft as well. The blade is angled very cleverly so that it's very comfortable to cut anything. The clip is nice but (for me) superfluous. (Interesting note: it comes set for right-hand carry default, but the dealer switched it over to left-hand for me without my even asking :D ) Screw construction, for those who like taking down knives. The lock is good too, lockback is my favourite. But the Boye dent is a little deep so I have to push it down further.

It's not perfect: there are machining marks on the swedge as well as a little nick in the G10 on one side. But after a few years it will look a lot worse, anyway :)

A very fine, compact & capable knife! Fits perfect in my small FG herd. :)

Yes, drilled out non-nested stainless liners. It is a pretty hefty knife for its size, but not overly heavy.

I love my G-10 Dragonfly. It is a great multi-purpose subcompact EDC. Great for regular EDC, as well as a great gentleman's knife. I'm a sucker for the steel backspacer, I love how it makes the back look like one solid piece of polished metal along with the lockbar and liners.

I envy you for being able to buy other FG knives before their discontinuation. I was able to find a G10 dragonfly for $90, but it is dyed dark blue. It still looks great, but I want the whole FG G10 family :(

The G10 sounds like it's the deluxe model. I'm happy with my FRN but I think I might have to have the G10 too.

I am a huge fan of the DFly platform in general, and the DFly G-10 specifically. I took the clip off mine, and it frequently accompanies me to the office. Makes a great EDC for typical office chores!

I love the way it feels in-hand, with it's outstanding ergonomics and a "just right" heft. It made me a believer in all Dragonflies!

Congratulations on your Dragonfly. I don't have one. It's been on my list for a long time but like other people I seem to "just barely" choose something else when I buy. And like others when I do get one I'll say "I shouldn't have waited so long." :D

I think now (without checking) the options are FRN w/VG-10, FRN w/ZDP-189, G-10 w/VG-10. When will we see G-10 w/ZDP? Or have I just missed it?

I just recently (2 weeks) got my first D-fly. It's a G-10, and it has been in my pocket more than any other knife ever since.

I keep marveling at how it feels and handles like a bigger knife, and I keep wondering how I overlooked it for so long.

Shortly after I got the G-10 I picked up a PE D-Fly in H1, and I just spent the weekend kayaking down the James River with that in my pocket. Spent most of the weekend in the water, and so that was the only knife I had with me - it felt a little weird not having a second larger blade with me (like I usually do), but the little D-Fly handled a number of tasks just fine - didn't need anything else.

An amazing little package and excellent EDC.

Jack, you really should consider making it your next Spydie.

I received my D'fly G10 about a month ago. It really is a 'big' little workhorse of a knife. It's only downside is that it's easy to misplace ;-)

We'll have to chang that old saying "From the mouths of babes" to "From the mouths of babes and WalzAaronFFG". :D

What a great idea. From what I've read anyone who gets one Dragonfly would like another. Then you could swap blades for your personal choice.

hey folks,
i just got one a while back and have carried it almost every day since.
this knife impressed me just like the g10 d4 and e4.
after having and used the frn versions of said knives, getting the g10 versions was like getting custom handmades!
later,
don

My thoughts exactly!!! except the opposite. Im buying a G10 to put my ZDP in... H1 version should be here in 2-3 days. The Spyderco Dragonfly is easily my favorite edc. Now I will have one for all occasions! I cant wait!

The dragonfly is one of those hidden gems that can get overlooked. I don't have one, but got one for my 12 yr old son and am now jealous. I would get one myself now, but may just start him a Dragonfly collection, although he is eyeing the Native SE black, and the upcoming Manix lightweight and the Yo2, because he likes Mike Janich from The Best Defense. I have created a monster.
