Paul, thanks for the comparison pictures. I had been thinking in my head that the Chaparral is the "Modern day Caly Jr" based on the specs. Besides the tip up vs tip down and pin versus screw.

There are other differences, I'm sure, but I don't know the other differences yet.

.014 behind the edge grind. Not quite Krein thin, the Persian he did for me is .011 and the Kiwi is .009, but darn close. :)

Hey Mongatu, thanks for the excellent comparision bewteen the Caly 3.5 Blue and the Para2. I have a Para2 and it may be my favorite. I was looking at the Caly 3.5, but was thinking of geting another Para. I imagine that many have that same battle, you have one that you really like and would liketo get another variation for other uses maybe, but then there are some other sweet knives that you don't have. I know, I know get them both. Mr. Bill Fold has other ideas.

I just got the notice from KC that my Super Blue Caly 3.5 has shipped.

The Para 2 is my favorite by far, especially the 20CP version, but I still like the Caly 3.5 quite a bit and just had to experience one in Super Blue. Should be a lot of fun to sharpen. I like to use the Caly 3.5 for cutting food in restaurants.

Just yesterday, I was using one of my Para 2's to cut through a bunch of fairly thick leather that I had glued to a rubber magnetic backing material and was bearing down on the knife extremely hard as I was slicing through this leather and magnetic backing against a board. That compression lock was just rock solid with not the slightest hint of play even with quite a lot of force and weight against it. Closest thing to a fixed blade, imo. Ime, some of the back lock models tend to exhibit a little play when that amount of force is applied. So I don't use them anymore for that kind of cutting if I can help it.
