Yesterday I said I was going to sell a serrated mil.to buy one with out serrations and what it might be worth. That is NOT trying to sell on your forum. There were questions about steel and locks. How does what I said break any rules.Maybe you should reread what I wrote.

I have no idea what post you are talking about, or what the post said, but I can answer you with what I THINK is the reason that a thread like the one you describe may fall under fire.

IN THE PAST unscrupulous individuals would post up a thread that appears very much like what you describe...except it really is a veiled work-around for a sale thread

These threads always contained a few tell tale signs.
1. Statement that the poster intends to sell the knife (may or may not indicate that the intent is NOT to sell it HERE).
2. A description of the knife suitable for assessing value.
3. A question regarding how much do people think it was worth...(almost as if to say, "what will you give me for it?").
4. A statement from someone else indicating that a personal message was sent.
5. (optional) some other BS questions to attempt to make the thread look like something other than a blatant for sale thread.

Your thread was apparently different in that you did not intend to sell here on the forum, but I can imagine that someone might intervene to remove the temptation for someone to send a PM to tempt you to sell it directly to them. Certainly we would not want to tempt you or others to engage in prohibited behavior.

The bottom line is, this site belongs to someone, and they can decide what is allowed.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy your stay, and I hope you find the experience enlightening.
Thanks,
Ken (my real name)

How did you post yesterday and today and only have one post total? I don't think throwing a fit is the best way to go about something you have an issue with. Regardless, you are in someone else's house and their rules and decisions is the way things go here.

A low post count will work against you too. If you had 1000 posts and may have asked the same question, they "may" have let it slide, maybe not.

I didn't see your original thread, but that does not matter, since my opinion as to whether or not it crossed the line between an innocent question regarding value and "fishing" for a buyer is unimportant. This forum is moderated by Spyderco employees. Kristi, the primary moderator here, must have thought it crossed that line or else she would not have deleted it. I, for one, trust her judgement on such matters 100%. Does that mean I think you were trying to sell here? No, it does not. Things do not always come out the way we want them to. A post that sounds innocent and logical to the person creating it may not read that way to others. It simply means I believe the combination of you being new here and the wording of your post made that a reasonable assumption.

I have had a small misunderstanding with the Admin in the past. She PM'd me cause she thought my sig was a WTB list (Wanting to Buy) as opposed to a list of Spyderco products I hope to purchase from dealers in the future. Obviously a few of the knives in the 'Future Purchases' part of my sig aren't even out yet, so it wasn't my intention to buy them via the forum, but it was just a small misunderstanding.

In fairness to the admin, she can't know people's intentions just from reading their thread or sig.

As others have stated, sometimes people try to be sneaky and work around the rules of the forum. This means that the Admin has to try and nip it in the butt before EVERYONE thinks they can do it.

It isn't really that big of a deal. If you want to sell knives to knife enthusiasts just go on Bladeforums and buy a gold membership so you can sell all day long without eBay taking a cut.

Making a new thread with such a title probably doesn't help your cause. I would just politely PM the admin and apologize for the misunderstanding... but that is just me

Hope you can get it resolved.

OK fare enough to all said except about the fit. If you think trying to explain my non intention to sell here was a having a fit I thought it was mild. Do you think just because I was questioning their call it was having a fit? To bad you did not see the post. If you go back a few you will see I was deleted. Any way let us move on to the fun ! Jim. Well obviously, but those replies just seem like a bunch of forum *** kissing. What, do you guys get kickbacks or something for all agreeing? When people see nonsense like that they just go to another forum.

Coonan, I think youre on the right track here. "Let us move on to the fun". A little rough start to the forum, but you can tell guys here like being here and there is a ton of knowledge here. Sometimes threads can go sideways. Its time to just say Welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here.

I will leave it at that. I dont think we need any PBJ sandwiches here.

Well, good morning to you, too. Thanks for the kind words! :D This is a community, and there's plenty of sharp-elbows action among members and plenty of criticism and complaining about Spyderco knives, but we try to keep it civil and impersonal. So, calling people names isn't going to stir up a lot of nice words. It's kind of like going to someone's house. You don't walk in and start insulting them.

Speaking of misreading, baiting and belittling, I don't think you read Chuck's post, you sir need to step back and take a breath.
