[quote="Iole"]I just discovered Frog lube. It is green and safe on skin.
It is like seasoning a frying pan over time. It seem to make all steels stainless, that's my definition.
By far, the best stuff i have ever used. My 1911 slide action is buttery smooth now, I noticed that my Walther P22 was rather finicky about the ammo i used. It would jam and not feed properly on occasion. After a couple of treatments with Frog Lube and no more! I've also used it on ALL of my Spydies.... The models with back locks can be difficult to "flick" but it seems that after a few treatments with frog lube it was a problem no more.... My Chinook 1 with its massive blade has an equally massive back lock (very difficult to flick without a lot of wrist action) frog lube seemed to sort it out... I can almost flick it open thumb only... almost :p One last thing... It seems to be the best thing ever for cleaning the med and fine stones on my sharpmaker. I used to use ajax and a scuff pad but i felt like i was leaving marks on the stones. Doesn't hamper the sharpening ability one bit either :D

I lubed my expanding batons with all kind of lubes in the past but then I used some "Frog Lube" on it and it will not stay open. The sections will not now lock up. I guess I have to use solvent to clean it off to to let it operate correctly.
It is the best lube I've seen so far. It is safe on plastic, rubber and wood because it is plant based.

For the liquid, hopefully you got a container with a needle applicator. That is really helpful for putting the lube exactly where you want it and using as little as needed with no waste.

I've never heard any bad things about Ballistol. Everyone who says they use it likes it.Rayo wrote:Ballistol
It seems to be good on so many different things that I wonder if it is great on just one. "Jack of all trades, master of none" kind of thing. I wonder about something that is a lubricant for metal parts and is a protectant for leather also. I'm sure I'm being a doubting Thomas because of the good reviews I've read. I've wanted to try it but can't find it locally in any stores.

This is a good thread with good info but we should notice it started 11 months ago. The original reques by the OP may have been satisfied.
Having said that I'm using Nano-oil now and for the past month or two. It's working great and I can tighten my pivots tighter and the blade is still easy to move. I got the 10 weight first and love it. I just got some 5 weight and tried it. I can't say it works better except in one area. It really gets into the joint fast. It's like the oil is sucked between the blade and tang of the folders I've used it one. 5 weight is not the recommended weight for folding knives, 10 weight is recommended to be the best weight by the manufacturer for knives but it will work. Also, you are supposed to be able to mix the 5, 10 and 85 weight oils together to get the thickness you prefer for different uses. 85 weight is said to be very thick, almost like grease.
