Where's the SS Balance?

#1

Post by DemskeetSkeet »

I figured this would be a fast release since it's the same exact knife but with a SS handle instead of the carbon fiber.

I want an excellent, light weight, thin slasher/edc blade.

Does anyone have an update on this model?

Sal, Mr.Schempp?

Thanks!

I noticed that KC has it up for preorder, so I'd think it wouldn't be too far out. Like you said, it really isn't that different from the CF version, so I'm surprised it's taken this long to get released. I don't care much for SS handles and have the CF version, so I'll pass on this. If they made the SS etched, then I'd reconsider.

Other than the Police, I'm not real big on SS scales. That was true until Blade 2011 where I was able to hold the SS Balance, My pocket is waiting for this one.

Anything designed by Ed Schempp is going to be great.

me too. I hope it's cheap enough that I can try my hand at engraving it (first attempt)

MSRP looks to be $124.95, so you can do the math and figure out the street price at your favorite dealer.

If it takes much longer, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a CF Balance...

But, yes, an acid etched or tattoo Balance would be fun. Hmm. The Tattoo Ladybug and Dragonfly have their respective insects (As will the Cricket Tattoo I assume is coming sometime; just makes sense that such a beast is in the works) engraved on the handle. Maybe a yin/yang symbol for the Balance?

If it were a $50-$60 knife I would probably get one. But more than that...**** no.

I'll wait to see what CS has them for. My guess is at least $10 below KC.

I paid $100 for my cf balance so I feel that price was well worth it compared to that $80 price on the SS version.

What's going on with the price of this knife in both SS & cf?

Since most of CS's are 46% off retail and the MSRP is $124.95 according to KC, I am going to bet it will be $67.48.

I'm going to stick on my CF version. It is a terrific little knife :) The Balance handles anything that's close and tough :)

I also ended up biting the bullet and buying a cf one. I'm glad I did, it was my first CF knife and I love the knife and the cf. I probably still want a stainless one. I'm not sure on the price though. I may just get a second cf one if they're that much.

Is the balance closer in size to a Ladybug or Dragonfly? The comparison pictures I've seen make it look pretty small.

The balance is just a tiny bit bigger than a ladybug.

Hate being a corn ball but size doesn't matter :p . The guy who buys a Tenacious or Delica may never buy a Balance. Still there are hundreds of similar knives on the market to those...not the Balance.

There is a ton that goes into pricing.
* Seki (material/workmanship/import/conversion rate)
* FFG
* collab
* run size

I paid $70 for my Lava years ago. Seki knives aren't getting cheaper with our economic problems.
