Smoky Mountain Knife Works visit?

#1

Post by araneae »

Anyone ever visit the SMKW showroom? I will be in the Smokies next week and thought it might be worth a visit to the showroom. If you went, was it a worthwhile visit? How long should I expect to spend?
Thanks
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

I was there about a year ago and spent a little over an hour in the showroom. The size of SMKW is very impressive and you will probably want to spend a lot of time just wandering and looking at the cases and knife displays. You can also go upstairs and see the knife museum area, which is worth the visit if you are interested in the evolution of modern knifemaking.

I wasn't particularly impressed with their selection of Spyderco models. Prices were around MSRP if I recall correctly. Definitely worth a visit if you are going to be in the area though.
