I am new to these forums, I've been creeping around them for a month or two, just trying to convince myself that a Spyderco was exactly what i needed to help build my collection, and so, tonight i purchased 4 Spyderco's. The Bug, The Honeybee, The Grasshopper, and The Kiwi3. Some insight, and perhaps some pictures to tide me over would be appreciated, thanks guys. :)

I do intend on purchasing more Spyderco's, i was mainly curious about the kiwi, but it didn't feel right only purchasing one small ss knife. I've kind of been eyeing the Paramilitary 2, i like the look of it, and as of right now that's the only thing i can go by. I don't live near a knife store where i could go and actually hands on feel any Spyderco's.

You have a good eye for a Spydie if youv'e been eyeing off a Para 2. There is no way to go wrong on that purchase, great knife, look at the threads here.

Welcome. Go ahead, buy the Para2  .
But be careful; Spydies are notoriously addictive!

So you got 4 small SS knives? :)

Welcome. I hope you don't get the wrong idea of the knives from buying four of the lower end models. The Para 2 is not one of the most expensive, but it feels like a very high end knife.

The Kiwi, in its lockback form, is splendid. The Kiwi3 less so, but still a nice little knife :)

I have a nasty feeling that my Lum tanto order has failed, in which case I will acquire a Para-2.

Welcome! The little SS Slipits are great and legal almost everywhere. They come sharp and actually stand up to pretty decent use. I love any variant of the Kiwi :) .

I might suggest a Delica next. It's the quintessential Spyderco in my humble opinion. For $50 or so it's hard to beat (but the Stretch FRN and Manix2 give it a run!).

Welcome! Gotta agree w Blerv. The iconic Delica is a good next buy to work your way into the line. Though, getting a Para 2 is a great choice too. In my mind, one of the most refined designs for Spyderco. That is of course only one addicts opinion :D . Happy hunting!

I like the black Delica, that may be my next purchase. Does it come fully serrated, or should i opt for the combo edge?

The one with the black-coated blade only come with a saber grind and combo edge. Seems the forum folks generally prefer flat-ground plain edge but there are some combo and full-serrated fans out there.

I tend to go full one way or the other. Still, the Goddard Jr in combo edge I got for my Dad was extremely impressive :) .

Ps: the manix2 comes full black, PE or CE. The Native comes full black too unless it's been discontinued.

Definitely try a Delica (in any edge type you like) or a Para 2 to see what Spyderco is really all about. The little ss knives are cool, but the Para 2 is in a completely different league.

Welcome to the forum, and if you're like most of us here, you better start saving your $$ now.

I don't really understand the difference between "flat ground" and "saber grind" as well as the other terms used to describe the blades. I do plan on getting more spydies, I just need to decide which ones.

Hmmm, I have no pictures, but I will get back to you tomorrow :)

It isn't an ergonomic wonder like the Stretch, Caly or Paramilitary, but it is solid and comfortable enough. If you dislike highly contoured handles you will enjoy it.

The blade is absolutely magnificent. The grind is high and deep; the steel, if you can handle carbon, is great as well. It is heavy and built to cut hard.
